Japanese video game developer and publisher Capcom revealed that it expects to make more money than what was initially forecasted for its latest financial year. This increase is partly due to the solid performance of some of\u00a0Capcom’s most popular video game franchises<\/a>\u00a0this year. In a press release,\u00a0the company revealed that the key titles that contributed to\u00a0this decision are\u00a0Resident Evil 3<\/em> and Monster Hunter World.<\/em><\/p>\n

According to Capcom<\/a>, its efforts in increasing digital game sales also contributed to its decision to increase its revenue and profit forecast. Capcom\u00a0announced\u00a0that it\u00a0is now planning to bring in 92 billion yen for the year in revenue with 21 billion in profit, which is a huge increase from the previous forecast of 85 billion yen in revenue and 18 billion yen in profit.\u00a0Apart from Resident Evil 3<\/em> and Monster Hunter World,<\/em> Capcom also revealed that\u00a0pre-orders for Monster Hunter Rise<\/em> for the Nintendo Switch<\/a> are “off to a promising start,” which also contributed to its decision to increase its performance\u00a0forecast.<\/p>\n

It is worth remembering that when the\u00a0Resident Evil 3 <\/em>remake\u00a0<\/em>was released last year, the game received mixed reviews due to its short runtime and\u00a0deviation from the original game.\u00a0This resulted in Resident Evil 3<\/em> selling less than 2019’s Resident Evil 2<\/em>\u00a0remake<\/a>, but Capcom explained last August that Resident Evil 3’s<\/em> performance results did not deviate from\u00a0its internal sales plan. Additionally, Resident Evil 2<\/em>\u00a0has always been\u00a0more popular than Resident Evil 3<\/em>, which is probably why Capcom still considers the latter’s performance a success.<\/p>\n

As far as Capcom’s future is concerned, it appears that the company already has a solid lineup of games this year. Ever since the announcement of Monster Hunter Rise<\/em> last September, fans have\u00a0patiently waiting for the game’s launch, so much so that when Capcom released a limited-time demo for the game, fans swarmed the Nintendo eShop<\/a>, causing heavy strain on its servers.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Capcom also has huge plans for the Resident Evil<\/em> franchise this year, starting with the release of Resident Evil 8<\/em>. Later tonight, the company will be hosting a Resident Evil<\/em> showcase event<\/a> that will take players through an in-depth preview of Resident Evil 8,<\/em> alongside some\u00a0other news about the franchise and a possible discussion about its 25th anniversary. The Resident Evil<\/em> showcase event, which will be half an hour-long, will start at 2 PM PT\/5 PM ET and will be available to stream online.<\/p>\n
