With the finer details surrounding this game being few and far between, as is to be expected of an upcoming\u00a0<em>Resident Evil\u00a0<\/em>title, the\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/resident-evil-8\/\">Resident Evil 8<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>showcase that happened earlier today was a much-needed info dump for expectant fans. One detail likely surprised many during the showcase.<\/p>\n<p>Ever since it was first announced, fans have drawn many comparisons to\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/resident-evil-4-experts-do\/amp\/\">Resident Evil 4<\/a><\/em>,\u00a0as there are many similarities between the two games. Both take place in a remote region, populated with castles and gothic architecture.\u00a0<em>Resident Evil 8\u00a0<\/em>also utilizes an inventory management system that is very similar to the one present in\u00a0<em>Resident Evil 4<\/em>. Of course, in the recent showcase, a new character was introduced that draws an even\u00a0bigger comparison to\u00a0<i>Resident Evil 4.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/resident-evil-4-remake-rumors-connections-explained\/amp\/\">Resident Evil 4 Remake Has a Lot of Explaining to Do<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A character named The Duke was introduced during the\u00a0<em>Resident Evil 8\u00a0<\/em>showcase who serves an identical role to the merchant in <em>Resident Evil 4<\/em>. The merchant is arguably one of the most iconic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/resident-evil-characters-mbti\/amp\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">characters in <em>Resident Evil<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0though they only appear in\u00a0<em>Resident Evil 4<\/em>. To see him reincarnated into this hefty, robed, and jovial man in a cart is sure to make a lot of old-school fans nostalgic.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CMaPv06BXcE?start=2296\" frameborder=\"0\" allowTransparency=\"true\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden;width:1280;height:720;\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This begs to question how else this game will compare to\u00a0<em>Resident Evil 4<\/em>. With <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/resident-evil-4-remake-rumors-theories\/\">rumors of a potential remake of <em>Resident Evil 4<\/em><\/a>, it will be interesting to see how\u00a0<em>Resident Evil 8\u00a0<\/em>is similar and different from its contemporary. It also has to live up to the massive success of\u00a0<em>Resident Evil 7,\u00a0<\/em>which left many fans impressed and excited for what&#8217;s to come.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to The Duke, quite a lot of additional content was announced for\u00a0<em>Resident Evil 8<\/em>. However, one detail that a lot of people will surely grab\u00a0onto is the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/resident-evil-8-demo-ps5\/\">PS5 exclusive demo for <em>Resident Evil 8<\/em><\/a>. The demo for <em>Resident Evil 7\u00a0<\/em>starring Clancy Jarvis drew in a lot of players and revealed bits and pieces of the story that was to come in the full game.\u00a0Admittedly, a lot of information regarding the overarching story for <em>Resident Evil 8<\/em> has been revealed already, but a lot of the lore surrounding these new characters and environment will likely be shown off in its demo.<\/p>\n<p>It will be interesting to see what else <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/resident-evil-portal-2021-capcom\/amp\/\">Capcom<\/a> has in store, not just for\u00a0<em>Resident Evil 8<\/em>, but the franchise as a whole. This year marks the 25th anniversary of\u00a0<em>Resident Evil,\u00a0<\/em>and it&#8217;s clear that Capcom has a lot for its fans.
