During E3 2019, Nintendo revealed that it is developing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2<\/strong><\/em>, alongside a cryptic trailer that gave fans a sneak peek at what to expect on the upcoming sequel.<\/p>\n

Nearly two years since the announcement of Breath of the Wild 2<\/em>, there are still many details that Nintendo is keeping under wraps, such as specific details of its story and its release date. At the moment, Nintendo still hasn’t revealed any updates on the game’s progress.\u00a0Now, for players who are eagerly anticipating the game’s release, here is everything players should expect from Breath of the Wild 2<\/em><\/a> this year.<\/p>\n

As previously mentioned, it is now nearly two years since Nintendo revealed\u00a0the development of Breath of the Wild 2<\/em><\/a>. However, this is not surprising, given that Nintendo has a track record of announcing a new game and waiting for a while before releasing other important information such as a new trailer, gameplay previews, and release date. It still wouldn’t be unlikely if 2021 will be the year Nintendo would reveal Breath of the Wild 2’s\u00a0<\/em>release date.\u00a0Although it is difficult to pinpoint the exact date when Nintendo will most likely announce the release date, it would probably fall somewhere in the middle of 2021.<\/p>\n

One thing that could also affect the release date of Breath of the Wild 2<\/em> is whether Nintendo plans to release a Pro version of the Switch console<\/a>. For years now,\u00a0rumors about an improved Switch console have surfaced online, especially now that the PS5 and Xbox Series X are out in the market, despite stock shortages. Although all Nintendo Switch games would likely be playable on both the original Switch and the rumored Pro version, Nintendo would likely use Breath of the Wild 2<\/em> as a launch game for the Switch Pro to attract as many players to its, similar to how the first game contributed to the launch success of the original Switch.<\/p>\n

It is likely that a new trailer and possible gameplay sneak peek will be revealed during a future Nintendo Direct presentation. Earlier this month, rumors began surfacing online that Nintendo\u00a0will host a Direct presentation<\/a>\u00a0on January 11 to reveal\u00a0BOTW 2’s<\/em> release date. Of course, we now know that this rumor isn’t true, given that Nintendo did not host a Direct presentation during the aforementioned date. However, since there are still a few days left in January, it wouldn’t be surprising if Nintendo releases a surprise Direct presentation in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

In the end, 2021 could be an exciting year for Breath of the Wild 2<\/em>, given that Nintendo would likely utilize the coming months to ramp up the hype for the upcoming sequel. Although there is a small chance that the game could release this year, it is likelier to launch in 2022<\/a>, which is why players should expect tons of new information, trailers, gameplay previews, and a release date announcement this year.<\/p>\n
