It has creative character archetypes, lots of content, and the game&#8217;s world has a flavor unlike any other. With the game out of closed alpha and available to all, there&#8217;s no better time to try it out.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\">RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/games-to-play-before-diablo-4\/\">5 Games To Play Before Diablo 4<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Railmaster is an absolutely fascinating class unlike anything found in other games. Building magical trains to help aid the player in battle while swinging a massive hammer is a joy to experience. With such oddity, however, comes difficulty. It can be daunting to decide which Relic to choose with a Railmaster or to even understand exactly how one works. With a bit of knowledge, this gets much easier.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static0.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Railmaster-Abilities.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>The\u00a0Railmaster has two skill trees,\u00a0Conductor\u00a0and Lineage. Each skill can be leveled up to make them more effective, with each skill point invested\u00a0doing things like increasing damage reduction and decreasing cool down. Players can actually choose to entirely ignore Conductor Skills if they want to and still make a strong melee character that can actually get through the game, but they lose out on the wacky ability to literally build trains in the game.<\/p>\n<p>The following are all\u00a0the Conductor and Lineage skills found in <em>Torchlight III<\/em> and their <strong>in-game descriptions<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static1.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Torchlight-3-train.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Build Train:<\/strong>\u00a0Built a train and start laying rail for it to follow. Your lead car shoots passively for 25% weapon damage.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Train lead car passive damage +8.50% per level<\/li>\n<li>Passive damage to all train cars +1.68% per level<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Morter Car:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Active:<\/strong> Make the mortar turret fire an incendiary round that deals 100% damage over time for 6 seconds<\/p>\n<p><strong>Passive:<\/strong> adds a mortar turret to the rear car that shoots periodically for 100% weapon damage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Unlocks By:<\/strong> Spending 1 skill point in Conductor<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Activated Mortar burn duration +4.25% per level<\/li>\n<li>Active Train skill cooldown -2.52% per level<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Shield Car:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Active:<\/strong> Heals for 5% of max health per second and grants a shield that gives 50% damage reduction on activation around the car for 8s, which lasts 8 seconds when you leave the area.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Passive:<\/strong> Grants 15% damage reduction.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Unlocks By:<\/strong> Spending 5 skill points in Conductor<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Passive damage reduction +8.50% per level<\/li>\n<li>Damage when near your train +1.68% per level<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Shotgonne Car:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Active:<\/strong> Shoot a single, large slug that pierces enemies for 250% weapon damage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Passive:<\/strong> Periodically fire a large blast of fire that hits an area for 100% weapon damage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Unlocks By:<\/strong> Spending 10 skill points in Conductor<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Train Shotgonne car passive damage +7.65% per level<\/li>\n<li>Active skill damage to all train cars +1.68% per level<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Flamethrower Car:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Active:<\/strong> Make the flamethrower shoot a 3-second burst of flaming missiles that deal 50% weapon damage per hit and leave enemies burning for 2 seconds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Passive:<\/strong> Adds a flamethrower car to the rear of the train that periodically shoots flaming missiles for 10% weapon damage and leaves enemies burning for 6 seconds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Unlocks By:<\/strong> Spending 15 skill points in Conductor<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Flamethrower passive burn duration +12.75% per level<\/li>\n<li>Train car skill cooldowns -4.20% per level<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static1.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/torchlight-3-Blasting-Charge.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Pound:<\/strong>\u00a0Slam your weapon for 150% weapon damage in a small area of effect with a 25% chance to stun your foes.Stun Duration: 4s.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pound stun chance +5.10% per level<\/li>\n<li>Damage reduction in melee combat +1.68% per level<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Blasting Charge:<\/strong>\u00a0Throw out a blasting charge that deals 50% weapon damage and causes enemies hit to take 15% additional damage for 6 seconds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Unlocks By:<\/strong> Spending 1 skill point in Lineage<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Damage vulnerability +4.20% per level<\/li>\n<li>Lineage skill damage +8.50% per level<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Hammer Spin:<\/strong>\u00a0Spin around with your hammer, dealing 100% weapon damage, knocking back your foes, and gaining a speed boost after. Movement speed is boosted by 50% for 2 seconds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Unlocks By:<\/strong>\u00a0Spending 1 skill point in Lineage<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hammer Spin Speed Boost Duration +17.00% per level<\/li>\n<li>Railhammer damage +8.40% per level<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Flying Picks:<\/strong>\u00a0Throw out two pickaxes dealing 30% weapon damage that leaves enemies bleeding for an additional 80% for 6 seconds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Unlocks By:<\/strong>\u00a0Spending 5 skill points in Lineage<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Flying Picks damage +8.50% per level<\/li>\n<li>Endurance recharge rate +4.20% per level<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Lantern Flash:<\/strong>\u00a0Use the power embedded in your ancient lantern to burn enemies for 125% weapon damage and Blind them. The duration of the blinding lasts for 0.5 seconds and the burn duration for six seconds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Unlocks By:<\/strong>\u00a0Spending 10 skill points in Lineage<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lantern Flash Blind Duration +8.50% per level.<\/li>\n<li>Damage vs Stunned, Blinded, or Slowed targets +5.88% per level.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ghost Train:<\/strong>\u00a0Call forth the spirit of an ancient train. It moves forward doing 200% weapons damage and knocks back your foes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Unlocks By:<\/strong>\u00a0Spending 10 skill points in Lineage<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ghost Train damage +6.80% per level<\/li>\n<li>Healing for 5 seconds after using a lineage skill +4.20% per level<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Spike Drive:<\/strong>\u00a0Sunder the earth with your weapon, sending out cracks that do 125% weapons damage and leave enemies slowed for 50% for 6 seconds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Unlocks By:<\/strong>\u00a0Spending 15 skill points in Lineage<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Increased Damage to Spike Drive +4.20% per level.<\/li>\n<li>Chance to Return an Endurance on Melee Attack +1.50% per level.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static0.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Torchlight-3-Relics-1.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>It is possible to make a workable build with each Relic in the game, but there is a reason certain Relics are used more than others. There&#8217;s simply no denying that the Flame Destroyer Relic combined with the Railmaster results in mindblowing amounts of damage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It is worth noting that there is no one best set of abilities to use for every Relic.<\/strong> Players need to focus on choosing abilities that suit their Relic&#8217;s passive abilities well. There are even times with the Railmaster where it&#8217;s better to completely ignore his train building abilities.<\/p>\n<p>Still, there are ways to work with every Relic, so we collected some basic builds for players to start with. These are just the building blocks, Abilities and Relic Skills to focus on with equipment suggestions. Players should tinker with these to create builds that suit their needs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Core\u00a0Skills:\u00a0<\/strong>Blasting Charge,\u00a0Hammer Spin,\u00a0Lantern Flash, Pound, and Spike Drive<\/p>\n<p><strong>Relic Skills: <\/strong>Blood Seeker, Dance of Death, Drain, and Living Barrier<\/p>\n<p><strong>Equipment:\u00a0<\/strong>Full set of Cosmic armor. Weapons that deal flat damage and can apply Burn.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why This Build Works:<\/strong>\u00a0The kind of melee damage the Railmaster can offer with Hammer Spin is enough to combine well to keep players healed thanks to this Relic&#8217;s abilities. Players will want to add on a bit of Burn damage to help with damage output which synchronizes well with Lantern Flash.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Core\u00a0Skills:\u00a0<\/strong>Blasting Charge,\u00a0Build Train,\u00a0Flamethrower Car, Hammer Spin,\u00a0Shotgonne Car, and\u00a0Spike Drive<\/p>\n<p><strong>Relic Skills:\u00a0<\/strong>Arachnid Assault and\u00a0Miasma<\/p>\n<p><strong>Equipment:\u00a0<\/strong>Full set of Cosmic armor. Equipment that gives opponents Poison and\/or slows, stuns, or blinds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why This Build Works:<\/strong>\u00a0Ban is a bit tricky to use with the Railmaster, but this build is the best way to do it. Players will need to try and slow down enemies so their Poison Damage has enough time to take effect. With the train cars putting out their own damage, it makes enemies weak by the time they reach the Railmaster.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Core\u00a0Skills:\u00a0<\/strong>Blasting Charge,\u00a0Hammer Spin,\u00a0Lantern Flash,\u00a0Pound, and\u00a0Spike Drive<\/p>\n<p><strong>Relic Skills: <\/strong>Cold Front, Ice Shield, and Snowstorm<\/p>\n<p><strong>Equipment:\u00a0<\/strong>Full set of Cosmic armor. Weapons that have the chance to slow, stun, or blind.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why This Build Works:<\/strong>\u00a0Pull the breaks on that train! This build works best when the enemy is slowed, stunned, or blinded. This allows the Railmaster to get to smashing away at them without needing to worry about having as high of damage output. This build\u00a0is ideal for patient players.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Core\u00a0Skills:\u00a0<\/strong>Blasting Charge,\u00a0Flying Picks, Hammer Spin,\u00a0Lantern Flash,\u00a0Pound, and\u00a0Spike Drive<\/p>\n<p><strong>Relic Skills:\u00a0<\/strong>Chaotic Strikes,\u00a0Localized Storm, and Thousand-volt Burst<\/p>\n<p><strong>Equipment:\u00a0<\/strong>Full set of Cosmic armor. Equipment that adds damage to Relic Skills. Weapons that have a chance to Shock.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why This Build Works:<\/strong>\u00a0Players want to make sure electric bolts are flying everywhere so they have the best chance to build up damage. Flying Picks has the ability to increase the chance for more damage this way and works well in this build.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Core\u00a0Skills:\u00a0<\/strong>Build Train,\u00a0Blasting Charge,\u00a0Flamethrower Car,\u00a0Hammer Spin,\u00a0Shocking Rounds, and\u00a0Shotgonne Car<\/p>\n<p><strong>Relic Skills:<\/strong>\u00a0Cloak of Flames, Nimble Flames, and Summoning Smash<\/p>\n<p><strong>Equipment:\u00a0<\/strong>Full set of Cosmic armor.\u00a0Weapons that have the chance to slow, stun, blind, or deal Burn damage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why This Build Works:<\/strong>\u00a0Flaming Destroyer and Flamethrower Car? A match made in heaven. The amount of damage this build can manage will make jaws drop.
