Capcom\u2019s best-selling video game franchise, Resident Evil<\/em>, is back with a brand new installment in the series. A sequel to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard<\/em>, Resident Evil Village<\/em><\/strong> takes place a few years later and continues to follow the story of Ethan Winters. It also sees the return of Chris Redfield and his ever-changing face, but the trailers indicate he not only kidnaps Ethan\u2019s baby daughter, but shoots a woman (presumably Mia Winters, Ethan\u2019s wife) multiple times. Not much else has been revealed about the plot of the upcoming game, but Ethan finds himself in a strange village while searching for his daughter.<\/p>\n

Though the game won\u2019t release for a few more months, many fans are ready for Resident Evil Village<\/em><\/a>. \u201cMaiden,\u201d the new PlayStation 5 demo, dropped for the upcoming game and let fans immerse themselves in the castle of Alcina Dimitrescu, the internet\u2019s now beloved \u201cbig vampire lady.\u201d Players take on the role of a maiden who is trying to break free from the horrors of the castle. From what\u2019s established in the demo, the Dimitrescu family has a lot of money, but they aren\u2019t the only family players will need to be wary of if the mural inside the castle depicting four family crests is any indication of what\u2019s to come.<\/p>\n

Alcina is the only Dimitrescu Resident Evil<\/em><\/a> fans know by name at this point, but she does have \u201cdaughters\u201d who clearly possess some sort of supernatural, otherworldly power. The \u201cMaiden\u201d trailer gives a bit more insight into the Dimitrescu wine production (hint: it\u2019s why fans are calling Alcina the \u201cbig vampire lady\u201d) and lets players get a little too up-close in encounters with her daughters. One of which even bites the player\u2019s neck as they try to escape the castle. The Dimitrescu family crest features swords, a shield, and what looks like flowers growing over it, which may be a nod to the family wine business.<\/p>\n

Heisenberg does not have a full name that\u2019s been revealed yet, but players are speculating that the man in the sunglasses and hat will most likely be Heisenberg. Through some dialogue in a recently released trailer, Lady Dimitrescu<\/a> hints at having familial ties to Heisenberg, calling him her \u201clittle brother\u201d in an encounter with Ethan Winters. However, they may not be related by blood if he\u2019s supposedly a lycanthrope (werewolf) and she dabbles in more bloodthirsty activities. Heisenberg\u2019s family crest has a horseshoe with electricity coming out of it, which coincides with the trailer that shows him wielding otherworldly electric levitation powers.<\/p>\n

According to the Resident Evil\u00a0Village<\/em> map<\/a>, the Moreau family has control of the reservoir and the house crest has a mermaid on it. Clearly, these are nods to the family having explicit ties to the water that flows throughout the Village, as the reservoir feeds into the rivers and lakes. Not much else is known about the Moreau family, but if each family is set to have their own \u201cmonster,\u201d players can bet that this family will surely be water-themed\u2014perhaps a siren, as suggested by the family crest, or something even more sinister.<\/p>\n

Another family that\u2019s had\u00a0little revealed about them, the Beneviento family crest depicts a half-sun, half-moon emblem<\/a> with wind flowing through it. Their home seems to be overlooking the whole village, placed\u00a0higher in the sky than the other family residences. If this is any indication of what their \u201cmonster\u201d will be, there\u2019s a good chance it will be able to fly based on the hints given with the crest and house location.<\/p>\n

Resident Evil Village<\/em> will be the tenth installment<\/a> in the Resident Evil<\/em> franchise and looks like it\u2019s shaping up to be a very intriguing game. Though there\u2019s still a bit of time before players can get their hands on the game, the graphics already look stunning from the PS5 demo.<\/p>\n

Resident Evil Village<\/em><\/strong> will be available May 7, 2021 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X\/S.<\/p>\n
