However, Sony sometimes adds some extra <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/playstation-plus\/\">PlayStation Plus<\/a> games for subscribers in certain regions, which is exactly what it&#8217;s done for PlayStation Plus subscribers in Japan, giving those in\u00a0the country an extra free game next month.<\/p>\n<p>Three of the free PS Plus games in Japan are the same as the free PS Plus games for February 2021 in other regions. This includes\u00a0<em>Control: Ultimate Edition<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Concrete Genie<\/em>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/destruction-allstars-ps5-ps-plus-february-2021-release-date\/\">PlayStation 5 exclusive game\u00a0<em>Destruction AllStars<\/em><\/a>. However, PlayStation Plus subscribers in Japan can also add\u00a0<em>Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night<\/em> to their collection once February 2021&#8217;s free games are made available in the country.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"related-single\">RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/free-ps-plus-games-february-2021\/\">Free PS Plus Games for February 2021 Revealed<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night<\/em>, for the uninitiated, was a Kickstarter-funded game from\u00a0<em>Castlevania<\/em> developer Koji Igarashi.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/bloodstained-ritual-of-the-night-review\/\"><em>Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night<\/em> reviews<\/a> were mostly positive at the time of its release, with many in agreement that it successfully recreated the classic Metroidvania style of gameplay that fans of the\u00a0<em>Castlevania<\/em> franchise enjoy. It&#8217;s unclear why\u00a0<em>Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night<\/em> is being made free to PS Plus subscribers in Japan and not other regions, but this isn&#8217;t the first time Sony has done this.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PlayStation_jp\/status\/1354625763648000006\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In fact, Sony did something similar with the free PS Plus games for January 2021. While Japan didn&#8217;t get a bonus free game, Sony did release a bonus free game to PS Plus subscribers in Spain, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/ps-plus-free-games-january-2021-spain-dawn-of-fear\/\">letting them claim\u00a0<em>Dawn of Fear<\/em> on PS4<\/a> along with the other free games. It will be interesting to see if Sony has similar plans to give certain regions a bonus game when it announces the free PS Plus games for March 2021, though fans will have to wait a month for that announcement.<\/p>\n<p>Some fans in\u00a0regions outside of Japan may be upset that they are missing out on the bonus game, though that&#8217;s not the only controversy surrounding the PS Plus February 2021 games lineup. Others are upset that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/control-ultimate-edition-refund-ps-plus\/\"><em>Control: Ultimate Edition<\/em> is a free PS Plus game<\/a>, as it just recently went on sale. Despite this, Sony is not offering refunds to anyone that purchased\u00a0<em>Control: Ultimate Edition<\/em>\u00a0prior to the PS Plus announcement.<\/p>\n<p>Despite some controversies, the general consensus seems to be that Sony has a strong lineup for PlayStation Plus in February.\u00a0<em>Control<\/em> won multiple Game of the Year awards in 2019, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/concrete-genie-review\/\"><em>Concrete Genie<\/em> reviews<\/a> were mostly positive as well.\u00a0<em>Destruction AllStars<\/em> is a brand new, unproven entity, but its status as a PlayStation 5 exclusive certainly makes it more appealing.
