The release of\u00a0PlayStation 5 saw the next-gen patches for a plethora of Sony’s first-party PS4 titles. Games such as Ghost Of Tsushima<\/em>, Days Gone<\/em> and God Of War<\/em> have all received updates that upscale these titles to 4K 60 FPS, making the PS5 the best place to experience these. However, one title that has still not received a next-gen patch, something that fans have been asking for, is Naughty Dog’s The Last Of Us 2<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Last Of Us 2<\/em> is undoubtedly one of the most impressive looking games that graced last-gen consoles and it will be interesting to see how its next-gen counterpart stands up. At the moment, The Last Of Us 2<\/em> runs on the PS5 via the system’s backward compatibility mode<\/a>. While it locks the game out of some high-end features such as a 60 FPS mode and ray tracing, the 4K resolution does give it a much crisper look. Fortunately for those looking for a proper next-gen upgrade for The Last Of Us 2<\/em>, it seems Naughty Dog is hard at work in making one.<\/p>\n

The news comes from ResetEra user Navtra, most notably known for predicting some of the announcements from 2020’s PS5 showcase<\/a>. On being asked by another ResetEra user on this particular subject, Navtra revealed that a patch was in the works. He says, “I know a patch was in the work at some point but I’m not sure if it’s still happening or when. I’d be surprised if it doesn’t get a patch, though.”<\/p>\n

While Naughty Dog has yet to confirm anything on this matter, they are likely planning to take a similar route like Marvel’s Spider-Man<\/em>. With the launch of PS5, Sony released a remastered version of its 2018 hit Marvel’s Spider-Man<\/em>\u00a0that included next-gen goodies such as ray-tracing, 60 FPS performance mode, lighting fast loading screen, etc.\u00a0 Initially, it came bundled with the Miles Morales<\/em> game\u00a0for a price tag of $69.99. However, later down the line, Sony released a standalone Marvel’s Spider-Man\u00a0Remastered<\/em><\/a> version for a price of $39.99.<\/p>\n

If Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered<\/em> is any indication, Sony is planning to treat some of its highly successful first-party titles differently. This may explain the absence of a proper next-gen patch for titles such as The Last Of Us 2<\/em> and Bloodborne<\/em>, both of which are being continuously requested by its fans. However, people who don’t want to spend their money again on such games\u00a0need not worry as the backward-compatible version of The Last Of Us 2<\/em> does support haptic feedback<\/a> and a few other quality of life changes that differentiate it from its base version.<\/p>\n

The Last Of Us 2<\/em><\/strong> is now available on PS4.<\/p>\n
