Many seem to subscribe to the theory that Game Freak is preparing to launch\u00a0<em><strong>Pokemon Diamond<\/strong><\/em> and\u00a0<em><strong>Pearl<\/strong><\/em> remakes for the Nintendo Switch this year, and while that has not been confirmed, an old leak may reveal more details about the games.<\/p>\n<p>As pointed out by Reddit user BrandsXavier, a post on 4chan from October 2019 made three claims about\u00a0<em>Pokemon<\/em> and so far, two of those three claims have proven accurate. The leak correctly predicted <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-go-galarian-mr-mime-special-research-tasks-rewards\/\">Galarian Mr. Mime<\/a>, and it also predicted how Pokemon fossils work in\u00a0<em>Sword<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Shield<\/em>. The post also went on say to that\u00a0<em>Pokemon Diamond<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Pearl<\/em> remakes would be out in 2020 with\u00a0<em>Let&#8217;s Go<\/em>-style catching mechanics.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"related-single\">RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-diamond-pearl-fan-remakes-game-minecraft\/\">Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Fan Remakes the Game in Minecraft<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Of course, the leak was wrong about\u00a0<em>Pokemon Diamond<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Pearl<\/em> remakes launching in 2020, but perhaps that was the original plan. After all, the COVID-19 pandemic threw a massive wrench into everyone&#8217;s 2020 plans, and so it&#8217;s entirely within the realm of possibility that the games were in fact meant to launch last year, but were pushed back to 2021. Alternatively, maybe the decision to delay the\u00a0<em>Pokemon Diamond<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Pearl<\/em> remakes came about so that the games could take advantage of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-anniversary-2021-diamond-pearl-remakes-heartgold-soulsilver-ports-sword-shield-dlc\/\"><em>Pokemon<\/em> 25th anniversary celebration<\/a> this year.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/GamingLeaksAndRumours\/comments\/l7cgce\/sinnoh_remakes_will_have_lets_go_catching\/\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>While the 2020 release date was clearly wrong, the leaker being correct about their\u00a0<em>Pokemon Sword<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Shield<\/em> claims lends credibility to their claim about\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/pokemon-diamond\/\"><em>Pokemon Diamond<\/em><\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/pokemon-pearl\/\"><em>Pearl<\/em><\/a>&#8216;s catching. And if they are accurate, then that will potentially be hugely controversial, as the\u00a0<em>Pokemon Let&#8217;s Go<\/em> catching was designed with more casual fans in mind, mimicking the gameplay of\u00a0the\u00a0<em>Pokemon GO<\/em> mobile game.<\/p>\n<p>Leaks from 4chan can usually be dismissed outright, but two of the three claims in this post have come true, and massive, accurate\u00a0<em>Pokemon<\/em> leaks have come from the site in the past. The infamous\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-sword-shield-leak-eternatus-legendary\/\"><em>Pokemon<\/em> &#8220;Ben Affleck&#8221; leak<\/a> confirmed a slew of details about\u00a0<em>Pokemon Sword<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Shield<\/em> &#8211; all of which were proven to be true by the time the games came out. So while fans should still treat this with a grain of salt, there is some precedent for 4chan having accurate\u00a0<em>Pokemon<\/em> franchise leaks.<\/p>\n<p>If the leak is accurate about\u00a0the\u00a0<em>Pokemon Diamond<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Pearl<\/em> remakes using the\u00a0<em>Let&#8217;s Go<\/em> catching mechanics, it will be interesting to see how the community reacts. One has to imagine that such a move will result in some significant backlash from fans, though that&#8217;s just speculation at this time.
