Those gamers who already own both games and the DLC on PS4 will be able to upgrade to the PS5 versions for free.<\/p>\n<p>In preparation for the launch of <em>Nioh 2 <\/em>on PS5, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/nioh-developer-teases-2021-announcements\/\">developer Team Ninja<\/a> has released Patch 1.24, which adds cross-save functionality to the game. This will allow players who are still working their way through <em>Nioh 2 <\/em>on PS4 to transfer their save data to the PS5 and continue their journey through Japan\u2019s Sengoku era uninterrupted. Saves can also be transferred from PS5 to PS4.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/nioh-2-free-armor-ps5-release\/\">Nioh 2 Giving Away Free Armor for PS5 Release<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Players can access the function to transfer <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/nioh-2\/\"><em>Nioh 2<\/em><\/a> saves between consoles by selecting \u201cSystem\u201d from the game\u2019s title screen. This will allow gamers to upload their save files from one console and then download them to the new one.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TeamNINJAStudio\/status\/1356029498936807430\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The cross-save functionality comes with two minor caveats. Players can only download the save data using the same PSN account that was used to upload it. They will not be able, for example, to transfer a save to a friend or secondary account. Also, because trophies are handled differently by the PS4 and PS5 versions of <em>Nioh 2, <\/em>some trophies \u201cthat are difficult to earn again\u201d will automatically be acquired when the save data is loaded on the new console.<\/p>\n<p>The Patch 1.24 notes also clarify that the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/nioh-2-releases-ps5-gameplay-footage\/\">PS5 version of <em>Nioh 2<\/em><\/a> does not support cross-matching, meaning it does not allow matching by Friends.
