That manifesto separated itself from other racing titles at the time, featuring hundreds of cars from manufacturers all over the world. The amount of control the player had over how each car behaved, complete with a campaign in Simulator Mode, was enough to turn\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/gran-turismo\/\">Gran Turismo<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>into a flagship\u00a0series for the PlayStation.<\/p>\n<p><em>Gran Turismo 3<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Gran Turismo 4<\/em> were the second and third best selling games on the PlayStation 2 and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/gran-turismo-5-sales-gt5\/\"><em>Gran Turismo 5<\/em><\/a> sold over 6 million units in its first year. Needless to say, the anticipation for a 7th game reached extraordinary levels, yet\u00a0Polyphony Digital deviated from the main series with\u00a0<em>Sport<\/em>.\u00a0<em>Gran Turismo 7<\/em> aims to be a return to the &#8220;classic formula.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/racing-games-with-best-customization\/\">10 Racing Games With The Best Vehicle Customization<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Gran Turismo Sport<\/em> was Polyphony Digital&#8217;s way of blurring the lines between video games and real-life competitive driving. Track drivers faced off against fans of the series in several championships sponsored by the FIA. While successful, fans of the original games who wanted the full &#8220;Driving Simulator&#8221; experience over the e-sports approach that\u00a0<em>Sport<\/em> offered were left wondering if\u00a0<em>Gran Turismo 7<\/em> would do just that. In an interview with Octane Japan, series producer Kazunori Yamauchi assured fans that &#8220;<em>Gran Turismo 7\u00a0<\/em> would <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/gran-turismo-7-royale-purpose-return\/\">return to the &#8216;royal purpose&#8217;<\/a> of full volumes like 1-4.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"200\" height=\"113\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ipQHAzVrrFA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s safe to assume that\u00a0<em>Gran Turismo 7<\/em> would return to its original mantra of being\u00a0<em>The Real Driving Simulat<\/em><em>or<\/em>, offering a vast array of cars, fan-favorite courses, and a robust Simulator mode. This would also include the success of\u00a0<em>Gran Turismo Sport<\/em> by adding a feature similar to\u00a0<em>Sport<\/em>.
