Now, as\u00a02021 is officially well under way, fans of the series\u00a0seem to have one thing on their mind:\u00a0<em><strong>Pokemon\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><strong><em>Diamond<\/em><\/strong> and\u00a0<strong><em>Pearl<\/em><\/strong> remakes.<\/p>\n<p>For the past few months, speculation surrounding the next mainline\u00a0<i>Pokemon<\/i> games has largely been exclusive to theories and speculation about remakes of the 4th generation games. In addition to this\u00a0speculation, rumors and supposed leaks have taken center-stage, with a new one seemingly popping up almost every week at this point. And now,\u00a0<em>Pokemon<\/em> fans think that an upcoming set of merchandise could hint towards\u00a0remakes of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/pokemon-diamond\/\"><em>Pokemon Diamond<\/em><\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/pokemon-pearl\/\"><em>Pearl,<\/em><\/a>\u00a0further adding fuel to the fire.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-sword-shield-diamond-pearl-remakes-wild-area-raids-sinnoh-forms\/\">Pokemon Sword and Shield Features That the Diamond and Pearl Remakes Need<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CentroLeaks\/status\/1356678080815849478?s=20\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>A new merch listing on Japanese online retail website\u00a0Rakuten seems to point towards\u00a0<em>Diamond<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Pearl<\/em> remakes with not-so-subtle inclusions of many 4th generation\u00a0Pokemon. Over on Twitter, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/established-pokemon-leaker-denies-diamond-pearl-lets-go-remake-rumors\/\">established\u00a0<em>Pokemon<\/em> leaker Centro Pokemon LEAKS<\/a> retweeted an image of the new merch posted by\u00a0Paul Ryan, webmaster at Pokeshopper.com, a large\u00a0<i>Pokemon<\/i> merch database.\u00a0Both Centro Pokemon and Paul Ryan hinted that fans should keep an eye on the upcoming\u00a0<em>Pokemon<\/em> merch. When roughly translated, the new merch seems to be a mini study journal set featuring a variety of Pokemon.<\/p>\n<p>While the set features\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-sword-shield-how-get-gigantamax-pikachu-eevee\/\">staple monsters like Pikachu, Eevee,<\/a> and the 8th generation starter Pokemon, it also includes 4th generation Pokemon like the Sinnoh region&#8217;s starters, Riolu and Lucario, Leafeon and Glaceon, Munchlax, and Pachirisu.\u00a0Paul Ryan also noted that Munchlax and Pachirisu&#8217;s\u00a0frequent appearances in\u00a0<em>Pokemon<\/em> merch as of late may point to upcoming anime promotions of\u00a0<em>Pokemon Diamond<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Pearl<\/em> remakes.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s worth noting that Munchlax was one of the first\u00a0<em>Pokemon<\/em> used to introduced the 4th generation of\u00a0<em>Pokemon<\/em> back in 2004, and Pachirisu was heavily marketed during the height of\u00a0<i>Pokemon Diamond<\/i> and\u00a0<em>Pearl<\/em>, so,\u00a0should this merch point to <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-diamond-pearl-remake-catching-lets-go\/\">4th generation remakes,<\/a>\u00a0the\u00a0inclusion of these Pokemon comes as\u00a0no surprise.\u00a0Additionally, it seems that other\u00a0<em>Pokemon<\/em> like the 8th generation starters&#8217; evolutions or even the ever-popular Kanto starters could have been chosen to appear alongside Scorbunny, Sobble, and Grookey, but Chimchar, Piplup, and Turtwig have appeared instead.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static2.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/pokemon-lets-go-pikachu.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>Just last week, a <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-diamond-pearl-remake-catching-lets-go\/\">supposed leak from 4chan resurfaced on Reddit<\/a> due to correct prediction about <em>Pokemon Sword<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Shield<\/em>. The leak was posted in October of 2019, just about a month before<em>\u00a0Sword<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Shield<\/em>\u00a0officially launched. The supposed leak both correctly predicted the existence of a Galarian form for the 1st generation Pokemon Mr. Mime and its Galarian evolution, as well as how the new mix-and-match fossil mechanic would work in the 8th generation\u00a0games. Aside from this, the leak also stated that\u00a0<em>Pokemon Diamond<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Pearl<\/em> remakes would release in 2020 and feature\u00a0<em>Pokemon Let&#8217;s Go<\/em> capture mechanics.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/GamingLeaksAndRumours\/comments\/l7cgce\/sinnoh_remakes_will_have_lets_go_catching\/?utm_content=title&#038;utm_medium=post_embed&#038;utm_name=6243213ddb07463bb320ab66ea33b438&#038;utm_source=embedly&#038;utm_term=l7cgce\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This leak initially disappointed some, since many long-time\u00a0<i>Pokemon<\/i>\u00a0fans favor traditional\u00a0<i><\/i>Pokemon-catching mechanics as opposed to the\u00a0<em>Pokemon GO<\/em>-like capture mechanics <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-lets-go-region-hoenn\/\">introduced in\u00a0<em>Pokemon Let&#8217;s Go, Pikachu!<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Eevee!<\/em>,<\/a> where players had to either imitate throwing a Poke Ball\u00a0with their Joy-Con controllers or line up a timed button press. And while some defend the leak saying\u00a0that 4th generation <em>Pokemon\u00a0<\/em>remakes didn&#8217;t release in 2020 due to COVID-19-related complications, Centro Pokemon came out and assured fans that\u00a0there is no reason to think that\u00a0<em>Diamon<\/em><em>d<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Pearl<\/em> remakes will feature\u00a0<em>Let&#8217;s Go<\/em>-styled catching mechanics. Further, Centro Pokemon claimed that the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra\u00a0DLC Expansions were planned\u00a0to release last year from\u00a0the start.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static0.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/pokemon-25-anniversary.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>2021 marks\u00a0<em>Pokemon<\/em>&#8216;s 25th anniversary, which specifically falls on February 27, the day the first ever\u00a0<em>Pokemon<\/em> games,\u00a0<em>Red<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Green<\/em>,\u00a0released in Japan. Over the years,\u00a0February 27 has become known as\u00a0Pokemon Day, usually coinciding with real-world and in-game events, as well as hosting a plethora of announcements about all things <em>Pokemon<\/em>. While\u00a0<em>Sun<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Moon<\/em>&#8216;s Pokemon Day announcement only revealed the game&#8217;s logos,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-sword-and-shield-pokedex-list-first-trailer\/\"><em>Sword<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Shield<\/em>&#8216;s announcement<\/a> revealed gameplay, the games&#8217; box-Legendary Pokemon, as well as the Galar region&#8217;s starter Pokemon.
