The store is only allowing sales of PlayStation 5 machines to those using its credit card plan, in addition to randomising when consoles go on sale.<\/p>\n<p>If staff reckon that someone is buying a PS5 with the intent of reselling it, they will refuse to sell them the console.<\/p>\n<p>This follows Yodobashi Camera adopting a first-come-first-serve policy the previous Saturday, which apparently resulted in the police being called as hundreds of gamers stormed the store.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;They cancelled the sale due to people being insane,&rdquo; Creatures Inc&rsquo;s Dave Gibson wrote <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AJapaneseDream\/status\/1355332901240365057?s=20\"  rel=\"noopener\">on Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Pushed so hard even the cash registers and staff went backwards. I&rsquo;ve never seen that kind of insanity in Japan before.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The PlayStation 5 is currently in high demand all around the world. The machine <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vg247.com\/2021\/02\/03\/ps5-4-5-million-sales-q3\/\" >has sold 4.5 million units<\/a> between its November launch and the end of December, according to Sony.<\/p>\n<p>The hardware has been popular with scalpers. In the UK, one group &ndash; CrepChiefNotify &ndash; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vg247.com\/2020\/11\/24\/ps5-uk-scalpers\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">scored 3,500 PlayStation 5s<\/a> using bots, while another organisation &ndash; using the Carnage bot &ndash; secured 2,000 consoles recently.<\/p>\n<p>Retailer GAME says it has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vg247.com\/2021\/01\/20\/uk-game-ps5-scalpers\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">brought in measures<\/a> to make sure that resellers weren&rsquo;t snapping up limited stock. Fellow UK store Argos&rsquo; PS5 restock in January <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vg247.com\/2021\/01\/27\/ps5-scalpers-argos-stock-loophole\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">was mostly bought by scalpers<\/a>, apparently.
