American singer-songwriter, actress, and overall super talent Taylor Swift has gotten a total makeover via a piece\u00a0of dazzling<\/em> fan art. Instagram user @defendinisart<\/em><\/a> posted a drawing (seen below) they did that depicts Swift as X-Men<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0superhero Dazzler.<\/p>\n

Although not as well known as other X-Men, Dazzler has been around in Marvel Comics for almost as long as popular\u00a0characters such as\u00a0Wolverine and Storm<\/a>. Dazzler, whose real name is Alison Blair, made her first appearance in\u00a0The Uncanny X-Men #130<\/em> in 1980. As a mutant, Dazzler has the ability to convert sound vibrations into light and energy beams. In the comics, Dazzler was a singer who used her powers to enhance her performances on stage and \u201cdazzle\u201d her audience. Despite her seemingly superficial and unhelpful\u00a0abilities, Dazzler is actually a very powerful Mutant and has proven time and time again that her powers are not just for show.<\/p>\n

Although Swift has not actually portrayed\u00a0the character, Dazzler did make\u00a0her live-action debut in 2019\u2019s\u00a0X-Men: Dark Phoenix.\u00a0<\/em>This was fitting\u00a0since her comics debut occurred\u00a0during what\u2019s known as the \u201cDark Phoenix\u00a0Saga,\u201d when X-Men member Jean Grey merged\u00a0with a mysterious cosmic entity<\/a> called\u00a0\u2018The Phoenix Force,\u2019 causing her to spiral out of control and become more powerful\u00a0and dangerous\u00a0than ever before. This storyline was adapted in\u00a0the 2019 film, in which Dazzler makes a brief cameo performing at a party in the woods near the X-Men school.<\/p>\n

In Dark Phoenix<\/em>, Dazzler is portrayed by actress Halston Sage,\u00a0<\/em>but there had long been rumors that Swift would play the disco dancing mutant on screen. After all, it would be an appropriate\u00a0role for Swift, herself being one of this generation’s biggest pop stars. Dazzler has always been a fan-favorite amongst X-Men<\/em> readers<\/a> and considering Swift has arguably one of the largest fan bases on the entire planet, it\u2019s no doubt\u00a0that their pairing would be a match made in heaven, unlike Jean Grey and The Phoenix Force.<\/p>\n

The last acting\u00a0role Swift had in a film was her performance as Bombalurina\u00a0<\/em>in the 2019 abomination that was known as\u00a0Cats<\/em><\/a>. Even though the film was widely mocked for its creepy effects and utterly nonsensical plot, it did showcase Swift as a talented singer and performer. Maybe if Swift is looking for another big-name Hollywood film to showcase her talents, a performance as Dazzler would give her a better opportunity to shine on screen.<\/p>\n

2020 was a big year for Swift. She appeared in multiple documentaries\/concert films, including\u00a0Miss Americana<\/em> (streaming on Netflix), Taylor Swift: City of Lover Concert<\/em> (Disney Plus\/ Hulu), and Folklore: the Long Pond Studio Sessions<\/em> (Disney plus).<\/p>\n
