In 2010, Rockstar Games released the original\u00a0Red Dead Redemption<\/strong><\/em> to widespread critical acclaim, selling millions of copies and winning numerous awards in the process. With\u00a0Red Dead Redemption 2<\/em>, Rockstar took its open world western concept to the next level<\/a>, vastly improving the visuals and providing near-unprecedented open world realism. Considering the staggering success of\u00a0Red Dead Redemption 2<\/em>, it’s safe to say that many fans discovered the series for the first time with that game, and may never have had the chance to play the original.<\/p>\n

Considering how popular\u00a0Red Dead Redemption<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>is, it’s surprising that Rockstar has never made an attempt to re-release it, with the game still trapped on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.\u00a0Red Dead Redemption<\/em> has never been released for PC, and it’s only playable on modern consoles thanks to the Xbox backward compatibility program and the PlayStation Now streaming service. There is clearly demand for a\u00a0Red Dead Redemption\u00a0<\/em>remaster, but Rockstar has made no attempt to make one so far.<\/p>\n

Even so, rumors have persisted that a\u00a0Red Dead Redemption<\/em> remaster is in the works<\/a>, with the rumors dating all the way back to 2016. Rockstar Games still has yet to announce such a project, but a new “leak” claims that it is indeed in development. And not only that, but if the leak is to be believed, fans will get their hands on the\u00a0Red Dead Redemption<\/em> remaster before\u00a0the launch of\u00a0Grand Theft Auto 6<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The same leak says the\u00a0Grand Theft Auto 6<\/em> release window is October 2023<\/a>, so if it is accurate, that means the\u00a0Red Dead Redemption<\/em> remaster will release within the next couple of years. However, fans should treat this news with a massive grain of salt. The information stems from a 4chan AMA that was later posted on Reddit, and there is absolutely no proof provided to back up any of its claims.<\/p>\n

Still, this isn’t the first time that we’ve heard of a potential\u00a0Red Dead Redemption<\/em> remaster being in development. Last year, an Amazon listing leaked\u00a0Red Dead Redemption Remastered<\/em><\/a>, listing the game for $49.94 and a December 10, 2020 release date. That never came to pass, but it’s possible that the game was intended for release last year, only to get pushed back for whatever reason.<\/p>\n

Other rumors have pointed to a\u00a0Red Dead Redemption<\/em> Switch port<\/a> in the works as well, though they have yet to come to pass either. In the meantime, fans can keep their fingers crossed for a\u00a0Red Dead Redemption<\/em> remaster of some kind, though they shouldn’t get their hopes up until Rockstar Games makes an official announcement.<\/p>\n
