3D Character Artist\/ Digital Sculptor\u00a0Ian Robinson posted an\u00a0image on ArtStation<\/a> of a 6-inch tall\u00a0sculpture he made depicting The Mandalorian<\/strong><\/em><\/a>‘s Baby Yoda\u00a0as a dark lord of the Sith. Titled “Darth Grogu,” Robinson’s sculpture is based on the original fan art<\/a> by\u00a0lead concept artist at Gearbox Software, Max Davenport.<\/a><\/p>\n

It’s difficult to imagine such a dark turn for the adorable, tea-sipping, Baby Jedi, but little Grogu has seen his fair share of death and destruction. He was around when the Jedi were nearly wiped out<\/a>\u00a0as a result of order 66, so who knows, maybe he’s got a revenge streak. We all have a dark side after all. He’s also been\u00a0hanging out with some pretty violent types\u00a0for the last two seasons of the Mandalorian.<\/p>\n

The last season of The Mandalorian<\/em> gave us much more insight into Grogu’s past. First, we learned that he indeed has a name, so fans\u00a0finally have something to call him other than\u00a0“Baby Yoda”<\/a>. We also learned that little\u00a0Grogu (who’s actually 50 years old) was raised at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant and was present during The Great Jedi Purge\u00a0depicted in Revenge of the Sith<\/em>. After Grogu connects with ex-Jedi and fellow purge survivor\u00a0Ashoka Tano<\/a>,\u00a0it’s also revealed that he was safely smuggled out of the temple by someone who’s identity remains unknown.<\/p>\n

One of the biggest questions brought up by fans after season two was about Grogu’s fate by the time of the Sequel trilogy. The Mandalorian<\/em> season 2\u00a0finale saw Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker take Grogu away to be trained as a part of his new Jedi Order. However, as we saw in flashbacks in both the Force Awakens<\/em> and The Last Jedi<\/em><\/a>, Luke Skywalker’s attempt to start a new Jedi Order\u00a0doesn’t go so well. Most of his students were killed\u00a0by his disgruntled nephew Ben Solo, AKA Kylo Ren, after a momentary lapse in judgment saw Luke consider striking the boy\u00a0down out of fear that he was going to turn to the dark side<\/a>.<\/p>\n

So, was Grogu there? Did he survive? Maybe he’ll join up with the Knights of Ren and lead them in Kylo Ren’s absence. Who knows, maybe if Palpatine had\u00a0picked Grogu as his new apprentice, he wouldn’t have ended up getting killed… twice.<\/p>\n
