With only eight base characters, Lifeline\u2019s ultimate that summons a pod of loot and her healing drone tactical made her a must-have for competitive teams. However, once better loot and more healing items became more readily available in later seasons and Loba\u2019s loot utility outpaced Lifeline\u2019s, her usefulness waned.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/apex-legends-support-lifeline-loba\/\">Apex Legends Has a Support Problem<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/apex-legends-lifeline-buff\/\">Lifeline got a powerful buff last year<\/a> with a passive ability that allows her to deploy her drone with a protective shield to revive someone, freeing her up to revive a second teammate or continue fighting. However, that buff has drawn the ire of many players who call it overpowered. When one fan asked about the issue in a recent Reddit AMA, Respawn\u2019s Lead Game Designer Daniel Klein replied that Respawn has some, \u201cSuper early experimental changes\u201d\u00a0being playtested, but that the developers weren\u2019t able to go into more detail.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/apexlegends\/comments\/ldfgmq\/respawn_here_we_just_shipped_season_8_mayhem_ask\/gm5qlzx?utm_source=share&#038;utm_medium=web2x&#038;context=3\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>As for Lifeline\u2019s ultimate, its usefulness is low and not much has been done to improve upon it. Lifeline received an additional passive ability that allows her to <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/apex-legends-old-ways-game-changing-updates\/\">open an extra compartment in some supply bins<\/a> to pull out extra healing items, but even that has done little for her loot utility\u00a0when compared to Loba\u2019s passive and ultimate. When one fan called Lifeline\u2019s ultimate \u201ccompletely useless,\u201d Respawn\u2019s Live Balance Designer John Larson said, \u201cyou\u2019re not wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/apexlegends\/comments\/ldfgmq\/respawn_here_we_just_shipped_season_8_mayhem_ask\/gm5osgp?utm_source=share&#038;utm_medium=web2x&#038;context=3\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Larson went on to call it \u201cunderwhelming to say the least,\u201d while also noting that her passive is, \u201cThe root of a lot of player frustration.\u201d They hinted that Lifeline will likely receive some \u201cability power shuffling,\u201d but did elaborate further.<\/p>\n<p>Many have suggested that Lifeline\u2019s care package ultimate should be nixed in favor of another way to heal teammates, like the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/apex-legends-season-4-character-tier-list\/\">area-of-effect healing that was presented in the Dummies Big Day<\/a> Limited Time Mode (LTM). It seems like Lifeline\u2019s loot utility might not ever catch up to Loba\u2019s, and so focusing on her abilities as a medic while altering her shielded drone passive to be less irritating may be the solution.<\/p>\n<p>While a potential rework for Lifeline\u2019s abilities might be far off still, one thing that is coming sooner is the Anniversary Collection Event next week. The <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/apex-legends-anniversary-event-2021\/\">new event will include the return of the Locked and Loaded LTM<\/a> and a host of fan-favorite skins redone in a snazzy new red-and-gold color scheme.
