The Silent Hill<\/strong> <\/em>series has been dormant for quite some time now, with the last major game in the series being 2012’s Silent Hill: Downpour<\/em>. Unfortunately, after Akira Yamaoka’s potential Silent Hill<\/em> tease<\/a> was pulled from YouTube recently, the series’ future seems even foggier than it previously was.<\/p>\n

The tease came from an interview with Yamaoka, where he\u00a0alluded to a project announcement in summer 2021 that Silent Hill<\/em> <\/a>fans have been hoping to hear about. Now, Konami has come out and denied it had any involvement with pulling the interview and tease from YouTube,\u00a0adding to the confusion surrounding the whole situation.<\/p>\n

For those who may have missed the situation when it first broke, Yamaoka was interviewed by the YouTube channel Al Hub about his work on The Medium for the Xbox Series X and PC. During Al Hub’s interview with Yamaoka, the Silent Hill<\/em> composer teased an announcement<\/a>\u00a0with enough vagueness as to not give any details of the project away. However, online speculation erupted, with many assuming Yamaoka was referring to something involving the Silent Hill<\/em> series due to his history with the IP. Shortly afterward, the interview was pulled from YouTube altogether.<\/p>\n

Now, Silent Hill<\/em> publisher Konami has made an official comment on the situation by way of Video Game Chronicle, saying, “Konami did not ask Al Hub to take down the interview.” Al Hub has not clarified who asked the channel to remove the clip, leading to a wave of speculation across the internet. Many speculated the removal of the interview had to be related to the Silent Hill<\/em> PS5 leak<\/a>, but the leak clearly states that Konami was looking for a developer to handle the property.\u00a0As such, most initially assumed Konami was the one responsible for the video being removed, but that doesn’t seem to be the case at all.<\/p>\n

It’s an interesting conundrum that makes the entire situation all the more perplexing. For example, if Konami wasn’t behind the video being pulled, then there’s a strong possibility the tease had nothing to do with Silent Hill<\/em> at all. Though,\u00a0there’s also the possibility\u00a0that Yamaoka’s tease was about Silent Hill<\/em>, but Konami is not involved with\u00a0the upcoming project. Different rumors have made the rounds claiming Hideo Kojima is\u00a0developing\u00a0Silent Hills<\/em><\/a> for the PS5, which would likely mean Konami is not involved with the project considering its fallout with Kojima.<\/p>\n

If that’s the case, it could be possible that Sony asked the interview to be pulled in order to keep the reveal of the rumored title a surprise. We do know that\u00a0Silent Hill<\/em> direct Keiichiro Toyama<\/a>\u00a0recently left Sony to form his own studio, lending some credence to rumors suggesting Sony’s involvement in Silent Hill<\/em> on PS5. Of course, this is all still speculation and as such should not be taken as definitive information. At the very least, it seems as if Konami was not involved in removing the tease, meaning the company was not worried about Yamaoka’s comments. Hopefully, Silent Hill<\/em><\/strong> fans will get some sort of closure on this strange situation when summer 2021 comes around.<\/p>\n
