Simon Pegg, who will be reprising his role as the IMF technician Benji Dunn, confirmed the news on his social media accounts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pegg shared a throwback image on Instagram, which shows him along with his <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mission: Impossible \u2013 Ghost Protocol<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> co-stars Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, and Paula Patton. In the caption, the actor remembers shooting in the UAE in 2010 and confirms\u00a0he is \u201cback for more 10 and a bit years later\u201d for the seventh installment in the series.\u00a0Another image posted by Pegg shows fans the\u00a0files for the central spies in the next <em>Mission: Impossible<\/em> film.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><b>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/mission-impossible-7-most-impossible-stunts\/\">Take a Look Back at Mission: Impossible&#8217;s Most Impossible Stunts<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Apart from Pegg, Cruise will return as Ethan Hunt, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/mission-impossible-7-tom-cruise-christopher-mcquarrie-speeding-train-video\/\">performing his own stunts<\/a>, as usual, Rebecca Ferguson will play Ilsa Faust and Ving Rhames will reprise his role as Luther Stickell.\u00a0Director Christopher McQuarrie has also been sharing a series of images on his official Instagram account, using the hashtag #MI7MI8. While he didn\u2019t reveal the location of the photographs, the first image reveals what appears to be the Abu Dhabi skyline shrouded in fog, followed by multiple images that seem to be taken in The Empty Quarter or Rub al Khali desert, which covers large parts of the Arabian Peninsula, including Abu Dhabi.\u00a0The shots show an abandoned playground, a helicopter flying in the desert, and some black and white images of masked men riding horses and camels. This isn\u2019t the first time that the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mission: Impossible<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> team is in the UAE. As Pegg\u2019s image revealed, the cast was in Dubai in 2010 to shoot the fourth installment in the series, <em>Ghost Protocol<\/em>, which led to one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/mission-impossible-franchise-best-action-sequences\/\">most iconic scenes in<\/a> the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mission: Impossible<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> franchise, where<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Cruise climbed the exterior fa\u00e7ade of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to that, another important action sequence from 2018\u2019s <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mission: Impossible &#8211; Fallout<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was shot in Abu Dhabi. At the time, Cruise had worked with the UAE Armed Forces to achieve the epic HALO stunt for the movie.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It seems like after <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tom-cruise-mission-impossible-7-filming-uk-protocols\/\">facing several setbacks<\/a>, the upcoming <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mission: Impossible<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> movie is on track for its November release. The movie had just started shooting in early 2020 when the first COVID-19 lockdowns were instated and filming had to be paused. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While shooting resumed in the fall of last year, the crew took a break for the holidays after an audio clip of <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tom-cruise-covid-mission-impossible-7-set\/\">Cruise expressing his anger<\/a>\u00a0over crew members breaking COVID-19 protocols went viral. It remains to be seen whether the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/mission-impossible-7-8-delay-coronavirus\/\">release date will be pushed further<\/a>, but there is no confirmation on that matter at the moment.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So far, the shoot of the movie has been split between Italy, the UK, and Norway.
