While\u00a0the\u00a0Pokemon<\/em><\/strong> franchise has arguably become most known for its mainline games, anime, and trading card game over the years, it has also had its fair share of spin-off games. Usually, the first spin-offs that come to many fans’ minds include classic games like\u00a0Pokemon Snap<\/em>,\u00a0Pokemon Pinball<\/em>, and\u00a0Pokemon Stadium<\/em>, but the franchise\u00a0has had its fair share of spin-off titles in recent years as well, with even more on the way,\u00a0like\u00a0New\u00a0Pokemon Snap<\/i>.<\/a><\/p>\n

Back in the days of the Nintendo Wii in 2009,\u00a0Pokemon Rumble<\/em> released as a WiiWare game. The spin-off saw players take control of toy Pokemon to battle through dungeons, forests, and arenas, among other areas as they acquired\u00a0more\u00a0toy Pokemon as they progressed. However, though\u00a0several Pokemon Rumble<\/em> titles have released since then,\u00a0the developer most known for the\u00a0series, Ambrella, has been fully acquired and dissolved by Creatures Inc., a development studio<\/a> which\u00a0works closely with The Pokemon Company.<\/p>\n

The acquisition was announced back in October 2020, but Creatures Inc. now officially owns all of the property rights of Ambrella, which has also\u00a0been dissolved. While it isn’t known why exactly this acquisition took place, it is likely that Ambrella and Creatures Inc. had similar goals, though Creatures Inc. has\u00a0a longer history with The Pokemon Company<\/a> and is much larger.<\/p>\n

Apart from several\u00a0Pokemon Rumble<\/em> titles,\u00a0Ambrella has also worked on a variety of\u00a0spin-offs for the franchise including\u00a0Hey You, Pikachu!<\/em>,\u00a0Pokemon Channel<\/em>, and\u00a0Pokemon Dash<\/em>, some of which were even co-developed with Creatures Inc. Ambrella’s most recent title was\u00a0Pokemon Rumble Rush<\/em>, which released on mobile devices back in 2019. However,\u00a0Pokemon Rumble Rush<\/em> officially shut down<\/a> just this past summer, perhaps serving as a premonition\u00a0of the development studio’s acquisition. For the time being, it is unclear whether more\u00a0Pokemon Rumble<\/em> titles will release\u00a0in the future.<\/p>\n

Creatures Inc. has developed several\u00a0Pokemon<\/em><\/a>\u00a0spin-off titles in the past, but it has most notably worked on Pokemon modeling for mainline titles like\u00a0Pokemon X<\/em> and\u00a0Y<\/em>, as well as\u00a0Sword<\/em> and\u00a0Shield<\/em> recently. While fans try not to get their hopes up about a new\u00a0entry in the\u00a0Pokemon Rumble<\/em> series, they still hope to see the return\u00a0of classic spin-offs like\u00a0Hey You, Pikachu!<\/em> and the Game Boy Color’s\u00a0The Pokemon Trading Card Game<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Even though\u00a0mainline titles tend to carry most of the\u00a0meat of\u00a0Pokemon<\/em> video games, other recent spin-offs like\u00a0Pokken Tournament DX<\/em> and\u00a0Pokemon\u00a0Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX<\/i><\/a> have been very well received. While the future of some\u00a0<\/i>of the franchise’s\u00a0spin-offs seems unclear, fans can likely still expect more to come with Pokemon<\/em>‘s\u00a025th anniversary this year.<\/p>\n
