More The Division 2<\/strong><\/em> content is on the way. According to a Ubisoft conference call, the publisher’s shared-world shooter will continue to be supported for the remainder of 2021. That much may have been known, as even recently next-gen upgrades found their way into The Division 2<\/em><\/a>, and Ubisoft has promised more content for the co-op shooter. However, it seems as if the game will even be supported beyond 2021.<\/p>\n

The Division 2<\/a><\/em> released to solid reviews<\/a> just about two years ago in early 2019. Since then, Ubisoft has supported the game with updates big and small, whether that be large expansions or gameplay tweaks. With the original The Division<\/em> launching in 2016 -and therefore lasting about three years- it would be fair to wonder if The Division 2<\/em> would be supported beyond 2021. However, according to the Ubisoft conference call, developer Massive Entertainment is large enough to still be able to work on the game for the next two years while tackling other projects.<\/p>\n

That other title that Massive Entertainment is working on is the recently-announced Ubisoft Star Wars<\/em> game<\/a>. Some believed that the team would shift all of its resources to this new Star Wars<\/em> project, and therefore abandon The Division<\/em>\u00a0franchise for now. However, the game looks to still be alive and well. And with the team being large enough to support one game and develop another, there could even be the opportunity to eventually release The Division 3<\/em> at some point.<\/p>\n

As far as what the content is that will come to The Division 2<\/em>, there is no news on whether it is whole expansions or smaller pieces of DLC, for example. With\u00a0EA losing its Star Wars<\/em> exclusivity in 2023<\/a>, the timing aligns perfectly for Massive Entertainment’s game to be ready to drop the moment that license agreement has ended. Even with Massive Entertainment being a larger studio, it would not be surprising to see the team allocate its resources towards the launch of the Star Wars<\/em> game, especially closer to the release.<\/p>\n
