Pok\u00e9mon Day, which takes place annually on February 27 to celebrate the Japanese release of Pok\u00e9mon Red & Green, promises to be a big one thanks to this year marking the 25th anniversary of the series’ launch. We’ve already seen the logo celebrating the major milestone<\/a> for the monster-collection franchise and knew that pop superstar Katy Perry would be a part of the celebration<\/a>, but today The Pok\u00e9mon Company announced another free virtual performance\u00a0starring\u00a0rapper and singer Post Malone.<\/p>\n

The concert is set to happen on the Pok\u00e9mon YouTube<\/a>, Twitch<\/a>, and website<\/a> on February 27 at 4 p.m. Pacific \/ 7 p.m. Eastern. In addition to the performance by Post Malone, The Pok\u00e9mon Company also teases that fans will want to stick around until the end of the show to learn about more collaborations and surprises.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If you’re unable to make the virtual concert, the day leading up to the event promises various celebratory activities and events happening across Pok\u00e9mon Sword & Shield<\/a>, Pok\u00e9mon Go, and the Pok\u00e9mon animated series. It would also be somewhat surprising if we didn’t get additional information on what’s next for the franchise, as well as additional information on New Pok\u00e9mon Snap<\/a>. On past Pok\u00e9mon Days, we’ve seen everything from first looks at Pok\u00e9mon Sword & Shield<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0launches of classic games on then-modern platforms<\/a> to even the release of a remake of the original Pok\u00e9mon theatrical film<\/a> on Netflix and Snapchat filters<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The most recent release in the mainline Pok\u00e9mon franchise was Pok\u00e9mon Sword & Shield<\/a> in 2019. Since that launch, Game Freak has released two expansions for Pok\u00e9mon Sword & Shield: The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra<\/a>. Prior to Pok\u00e9mon Sword & Shield, Game Freak remade Pok\u00e9mon Red & Blue for Switch as Pok\u00e9mon Let’s Go Pikachu & Eevee<\/a>. This approach has led some to believe that the next announcements will either be new expansions for Pok\u00e9mon Sword & Shield or additional remakes from other games in the mainline Pok\u00e9mon RPG series.\u00a0Unfortunately, it’s all guesswork until the big day rolls around on February 27.<\/p>\n
