Anime and WWE are probably the last two fandoms we’d expect to associate with one another. However, the two worlds collided this week when former WWE Champion\u00a0John Cena took to Instagram to post a photo from the popular anime series\u00a0My Hero Academia<\/strong><\/em><\/a>; a move that sent\u00a0the internet into a total frenzy.<\/p>\n

Cena’s post followed\u00a0a Twitterstorm that erupted over the similarities between Deku’s pose in a poster for the franchise’s third film<\/a>\u00a0and Cena’s “You Can’t See Me” pose. After\u00a0the online discussion went viral,\u00a0Cena uploaded a\u00a0cropped screenshot of the poster to his Instagram page without a caption, making it all the more cryptic and buzz-worthy.<\/p>\n

While some fans are chalking it up to coincidence, others are more convinced that the\u00a0Deku is throwing up the iconic pose as a genuine nod to the Peacemaker\u00a0<\/em>star. After all,\u00a0My Hero Academia<\/em> has a history of shouting out elements of pop culture it takes inspiration from, from\u00a0Final Fantasy<\/em><\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0Star Wars.\u00a0<\/em>The purported Easter egg\u00a0involving Cena has led some people to believe that he could be lending his voice to the upcoming film, whereas others think he may just be a fan of the show.<\/p>\n
