David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the brains behind HBO\u2019s <\/span>Game of Thrones<\/span><\/i>, have teamed up with actor Hugh Jackman to work on a new project with Netflix<\/a><\/strong>. The team is developing a series adaptation of Richard Powers\u2019 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, <\/span>The Overstory<\/i><\/b>. <\/span><\/i>They will be joined by Powers himself, who serves in a co-executive producer capacity.<\/span><\/p>\n

No details have been revealed about casting or a release date at the moment. However, there is a possibility that Jackman might have an acting role in the series, too, <\/span>Deadline <\/span><\/i>reported. While the search for a director is on, the pilot script has already been written by Richard Robbins, who previously worked on <\/span>12 Monkeys<\/span><\/i>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Overstory<\/span><\/i> was originally published in 2018 and it is Roberts\u2019 twelfth novel. A work of environmental fiction<\/a>, the story focuses on a group of very different individuals and how their lives become intertwined with nature. Their experiences and relationship with a distinct set of trees\u00a0result in a realization about the state of the world\u2019s forests, which brings them together to address environmental destruction. The book received a lot of praise, and the Pulitzer committee refers to it as \u201can ingeniously structured narrative.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
