The Innsmouth Case<\/em> is a\u00a0text-based adventure that released in December of 2020. It had previously released for PC, but due to its text genre, it works\u00a0better as a more mobile title, making the Nintendo Switch the perfect choice. Heavily inspired by\u00a0H.P. Lovecraft<\/a>, this game offers a comedy-horror experience reminiscent of “choose your own adventure” books.<\/p>\n

R\u00f6ki<\/em> released in October of 2020 and is an indie title that offers players an adventure game with platformer and puzzle elements.\u00a0R\u00f6ki<\/em> follows Tove on her journey to save her family, which sees her delving into the deep and magical world of folklore and legend, filled with strange locations and even stranger creatures.<\/p>\n

This wholesome title features a brilliant story, interesting gameplay mechanics and puzzles, and unique graphics, all of which are infused with the magic and mystery of Nordic folklore.<\/p>\n

6 <\/span>Part Time UFO<\/h2>\n

Originally a mobile game for Android and iOS, an expanded version of Part Time UFO<\/em> released for Nintendo Switch in October of 2020. The game was\u00a0developed by\u00a0HAL Laboratory, best known for its\u00a0work on the Kirby<\/em><\/a> series, so unsurprisingly, several Kirby characters make an appearance.<\/p>\n

This puzzle game sees players take control of Jobski, a sentient UFO with a claw, who can take on various part-time jobs that require it to grab items and place them into specific areas. The game challenges both your claw-grabbing and item stacking skills, as items have to remain there without collapsing for five seconds in order to pass each level successfully.<\/p>\n

5 <\/span>When the Past was Around<\/h2>\n

When the Past was Around<\/em> released in December of 2020 and offers players a well-crafted and emotional journey through a point-and-click puzzle game<\/a>. The story focuses on Eda, a young woman who has lost her way in life and love, that is until she meets Owl.<\/p>\n

This title features stunningly beautiful artwork accompanied by captivating violin music. The puzzles are challenging enough without being too frustrating, and the combination of great gameplay and a moving storyline offers a great experience for players.<\/p>\n

4 <\/span>Minoria<\/h2>\n

Spiritfarer<\/em><\/a> released on Nintendo Switch in August of 2020 and is a gorgeous indie title<\/a> with beautiful graphics and a simultaneously heartwarming and heartbreaking storyline that will stay with players. This adventure game has players taking on the role of Stella, who has just become the ferryman that helps the souls of the deceased cross over.<\/p>\n

As Stella, players can explore the world and make new friends, as well as reunite with loved ones,\u00a0and offers laidback gameplay where they can\u00a0take time out to craft, gather, cook, or fish. Players are able to expand their ferry with new buildings, increasing their crafting and gathering capabilities.<\/p>\n

2 <\/span>Dicey Dungeons<\/h2>\n

Dicey Dungeons<\/em> released for Nintendo Switch in December of 2020, having previously already released for PC and Mac the year before. Perfect for fans of tabletop games<\/a>, Dicey Dungeons<\/em> offers a\u00a0deckbuilding roguelike experience with absolutely adorable graphics.<\/p>\n

The game’s premise has the characters turned into dice on a game show hosted by Lady Luck, where they are then forced to battle their way through dungeons to reach the lowest level and defeat the boss, all in the hopes of winning their freedom.<\/p>\n

1 <\/span>Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin<\/h2>\n

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin<\/em><\/a> is an action JRPG that\u00a0released in November of 2020 and\u00a0features elements of both platformer and farming simulation games. The game follows\u00a0the harvest goddess Sakuna who has been banished from her celestial\u00a0home and is tasked with taking care of a group of humans, along with her familiar Tama.<\/p>\n

Sakuna finds herself on an island overrun with demons where she\u00a0utilizes her birthright of being the daughter of a warrior god and harvest goddess in order to protect the people, while also working the land. The game features great graphics and a well-balanced mix between battle gameplay\u00a0and the more relaxing farm management content.<\/p>\n
