In <em>WandaVision<\/em> she\u2019s portrayed by actress Teyonah Parris, but Rambeau actually made her live-action debut in the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/captain-marvel-stunt-concept-video\/\">2019 film <em>Captain Marvel <\/em><\/a>as a much younger version of the character. In that movie, Monica\u00a0is the daughter of Air Force pilot Maria Rambeau, an old friend of Captain Marvel,\u00a0a.k.a Carol Danvers. Since that film is set in the mid-\u201990s, Rambeau is only a child\u00a0and is played by actress Akira Akbar instead of Parris.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/taylor-swift-dazzler-x-men-fan-art\/\">Fan Sketch Imagines Taylor Swift As Superhero Dazzler From X-Men<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Although she\u2019s just a child in<em> Captain Marvel<\/em>, fans of the comics would immediately recognize the name of Monica Rambeau. In fact, in the comics, Rambeau was the second person to dawn the name Captain Marvel after the Kree warrior\u00a0Mar-Vell, back when Carol Danvers still went by the name Ms. Marvel. She would even go on to lead the Avengers at one point.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/old.reddit.com\/r\/marvelstudios\/comments\/lf2kq3\/monica_rambeau_as_photon_photo_edit_done_by_me\/\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>First appearing in <em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/spider-man-black-suit-concept\/\">The Amazing Spider-Man<\/a> Annual #16<\/em>, created by Roger Stern and John Romita Jr, Monica Rambeau gained\u00a0superpowers after she was bombarded by extra-dimensional energies, giving her the power to\u00a0transform herself into <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/mass-effect-4-ryder-dark-energy\/\">any form of energy<\/a> within the electromagnetic spectrum. At one point in her comics run, Rambeau lost her powers and hung up the cape, retiring\u00a0from the superhero life. However, she eventually regained her powers\u00a0and returned with a new name, Photon, after passing on the Captain Marvel title to Mar-Vell\u2019s son, Genis-Vell. In the years since Rambeau has taken on other aliases such as Pulsar and, most recently, Spectrum.<\/p>\n<p>On <em>WandaVision<\/em>, Rambeau was recently seen being \u201cbombarded\u201d by Wanda Maximoff\u2019s energy powers, sending her flying through the sitcom reality and back into the real world. Many fans have speculated that this event is what will give Rambeau her powers, allowing her to become Photon in the MCU.<\/p>\n<p>Considering her mother&#8217;s nickname in the Air Force was Maria \u201cPhoton\u201d Rambeau, it seems likely that this will someday\u00a0come to fruition.
