A\u00a0Paranormal Activity\u00a0<\/b><\/em><\/b>reboot is on the way from both\u00a0Jason Blum<\/a>\u00a0and the creator of the first installment, Oren Peli. This is the seventh film in the series, with the latest being 2015\u2019s\u00a0Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Happy Death Day<\/em>\u2019s Christopher Landon<\/a> will pen the script, while filmmaker Will Eubank, who last made the Kristen Stewart thriller\u00a0Underwater,<\/em>\u00a0is attached to direct. Landon, a frequent collaborator of Blum\u2019s<\/a>, wrote\u00a0Paranormal Activity <\/em>2<\/em>,\u00a0<\/i>3,<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a04<\/em>, as well as\u00a0Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones.\u00a0<\/em>His latest project,\u00a0Freaky<\/em>, came out last year and was considered a critical success. The horror-comedy followed<\/a> a young girl (Kathryn Newton) who somehow swaps bodies with a deranged serial killer (Vince Vaughn).<\/p>\n

The original\u00a0Paranormal Activity<\/em>\u00a0was released in 2007 and made waves for being filmed in just one week and grossing over $193 million on just a $15,000 budget. The series, which drew comparisons to\u00a0The Blair Witch Project<\/em><\/a>, first followed a middle-class couple (Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat) who are haunted by a supernatural demon in their new suburban home. Featherston and Sloat set up a camera in their bedroom to document the paranormal activity that occurred while they were sleeping.<\/p>\n

Following the success of the first four films, two spinoff series were made\u00a0(Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension). <\/em>Unlike the prior sequels, the spinoff\u00a0<\/em>didn\u2019t explore the Featherston family\u2019s haunted history. Through six films, the franchise grossed over<\/a> $890.3 million worldwide.<\/p>\n

As of now, not much is known about\u00a0Paranormal Activity 7<\/em>, as information about the plot and characters have yet to be released. Per THR, the upcoming sequel will continue to use the found footage device and is being described as an “unexpected retooling” of the franchise.<\/p>\n

Paranormal 7<\/b><\/em>\u00a0is scheduled to be released on March 4, 2022.<\/p>\n
