Activision has confirmed that a new\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/call-of-duty\/\"><em>Call of Duty<\/em><\/a> game will be launching this year, but details beyond that are unavailable at this time. However, reputable leakers have started teasing the game&#8217;s setting, though there seems to be a disagreement as to what the\u00a0<em>Call of Duty 2021<\/em> setting will ultimately be.<\/p>\n<p>Leaker Okami has suggested that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/call-of-duty-2021-korean-war-rumor\/\"><em>Call of Duty 2021<\/em>&#8216;s setting will be the Korean War<\/a>, but leaker Victor Z on Twitter has said that the setting is actually World War 2. The\u00a0<em>Call of Duty<\/em> franchise has long been tied to World War 2, with the first three games in the main series set during that time in addition to numerous spin-offs,\u00a0<em>World at War<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>Call of Duty: WW2<\/em>, so it&#8217;s a pretty easy claim to believe.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/call-of-duty-warzone-glitch-accidental-wall-hacks\/\">Call of Duty: Warzone Glitch Gives Players Accidental Wall Hacks<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Victor also suggests that\u00a0<em>Call of Duty 2021<\/em> is being developed by Sledgehammer Games, the same studio that developed\u00a0<em>Call of Duty: WW2<\/em>. This makes the game&#8217;s supposed <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/call-of-duty-world-war-2-rumor\/\">World War 2 setting<\/a> somewhat surprising, as one would think Sledgehammer would want to do something different for its next game in the long-running franchise. Of course, with conflicting information between leakers and no official details on\u00a0<em>Call of Duty 2021<\/em> to date, fans should take all of this information with a grain of salt anyway.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Victor___Z\/status\/1361898037224693760\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Leakers haven&#8217;t just been talking about\u00a0<em>Call of Duty 2021<\/em>&#8216;s setting and the studio developing the game. Another well-known\u00a0<em>Call of Duty<\/em> leaker, Tom Henderson, has\u00a0suggested that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/call-of-duty-2021-title-guerrilla-warfare\/\"><em>Call of Duty 2021<\/em>&#8216;s subtitle is\u00a0<em>Guerrilla Warfare<\/em><\/a>. Unfortunately, that leaked subtitle doesn&#8217;t really help narrow down which leaked\u00a0<em>Call of Duty 2021<\/em> setting is accurate. Guerrilla warfare tactics were used in both the Korean War and World War 2 by and against various groups involved in both conflicts.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately for those wanting concrete answers about\u00a0<em>Call of Duty 2021<\/em>, they will likely have at least a few months to wait. Activision typically doesn&#8217;t reveal new\u00a0<em>Call of Duty<\/em> games until May or June of any given year, and in the case of\u00a0<em>Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War<\/em>, it waited until late in the summer to make the official announcement. With\u00a0<em>Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War<\/em> breaking from Activision&#8217;s established pattern of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/call-of-duty-black-ops-cold-war-multiplayer-reveal-date-start-time\/\"><em>Call of Duty<\/em> game reveals<\/a>, it&#8217;s anyone&#8217;s guess as to when\u00a0<em>Call of Duty 2021<\/em> will be shown to the public.<\/p>\n<p>Whenever\u00a0<em>Call of Duty 2021<\/em> is revealed to the public, fans should find out definitively where the game is set, as well as which studio is helming the project and if it&#8217;s really <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/call-of-duty-2021-sledgehammer-games-leak\/\">Sledgehammer Games as rumored<\/a>.
