Ever since Disney first showed Marvel fans a glimpse at The Falcon and the Winter Soldier<\/strong><\/em><\/a> during last year\u2019s Super Bowl 54, many have been wondering just what kind of story would be there to tell between Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes after Captain America\u2019s retirement.<\/p>\n

One whole year after that, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier<\/em> made another splash at the Super Bowl only this time coming with an intriguing, full-length trailer<\/a> that promises the new Disney Plus exclusive is kind of looking to do for buddy cop comedies what WandaVision<\/em> currently is doing for old fashioned sitcoms or maybe just be an entertaining Marvel video game.<\/p>\n

As it turns out, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier<\/em> stars Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan sort of agreed with that point of view during a recent interview for Entertainment Weekly. Both actors touched upon some of the elements that would make the six-episode series special, with Mackie likening it to writing \u201cthe first installment of a buddy-cop series, knowing exactly what the rhythm and flavor is with the two characters.\u201d Meanwhile, Stan points to an \u201codd-couple\u201d chemistry being present in the duo, who have never seen each other quite eye to eye in their past MCU appearances.<\/p>\n

At the same time, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier<\/em>\u00a0is much more action-packed than Marvel Studios’\u00a0WandaVision<\/em><\/a> could be from the get-go, and Stan promises plenty of comedy with the Winter Soldier struggling to adapt to a modern tech-oriented world much in the same way Captain America used to, because \u201chow does that guy function in 2021, in the times of today?\u201d That\u2019s a vibe that Mackie also gets from the show since, despite it being similar to a Tom Clancy spy plot<\/a>, he concedes \u201cit\u2019s Sebastian and I, and we\u2019re idiots.\u201d So, expect plenty of laughs.<\/p>\n

With WandaVision<\/em> only three episodes away from wrapping up its mysterious plot, Disney Plus will bridge the one-week gap separating it from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier<\/em> with Assembled: The Making of WandaVision<\/em> on March 12<\/a>. No matter what happens, Disney has solid plans to ensure there is always a brand new Marvel series streaming exclusively on the platform, so the same could follow once The Falcon and the Winter Soldier<\/em> wraps up its short stint and it\u2019s time to move on to Loki<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Despite The Falcon and the Winter Soldier<\/em> maybe not drawing the same kind of attention as other Marvel productions due to it featuring two sidekick characters, the miniseries is looking more promising. So, there\u2019s a chance Wilson and Barnes could go down in history as an iconic superpowered good cop bad cop partnership.<\/p>\n

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier<\/em><\/strong> will be available on Disney Plus starting March 19, 2021.<\/p>\n
