The company made <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vg247.com\/2019\/10\/18\/crusader-kings-2-paradox-free-steam\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">the core Crusader Kings 2 free-to-play<\/a> on Steam back in October 2019.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;With so much additional content available, the cost for new Crusader Kings 2 players can seem prohibitive or intimidating,&rdquo; Paradox wrote, explaining why it was rolling out this subscription service.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This is an affordable way for players to experience the entire Crusader Kings 2 catalogue without having to weigh which items they would prefer to purchase.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This does not mean it is the only way to get DLC moving forward. The subscription service is entirely optional and purchasing a single or multiple DLC packs without the Subscription is still an option.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>A sequel, Crusader Kings 3 was released in September 2020. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vg247.com\/2020\/08\/31\/crusader-kings-3-review\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">In our review<\/a>, we said it was &ldquo;the best grand strategy game yet.&rdquo; By the end of September, the game had shifted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vg247.com\/2020\/11\/17\/crusader-kings-3-1-million-copies-sold\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">more than one million copies<\/a> on Steam.
