Bungie is embroiled in a bit of drama this week thanks to a short-lived <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/destiny-2\/\"><em>Destiny 2<\/em><\/a> slogan that has been tied to the Hitler Youth of Nazi Germany.<\/p>\n<p>Despite some disappointment in <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/destiny-2-season-of-the-chosen-kinetic-weapons-disappointing\/\"><em>Destiny 2<\/em>&#8216;s kinetic weapons<\/a>\u00a0introduced by the latest expansion, <em>Season of the Chosen<\/em> has been met with mostly positive comments. However, that doesn&#8217;t mean everything is going swimmingly. When some gamers found a slogan pop up, however briefly it did appear, there were comments made about its background. Now Bungie is taking action and apologizing for what it&#8217;s calling a significant oversight.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/destiny-2-dead-game-dmg-twitter\/\">Bungie CM Pokes Fun at Those Who Call Destiny 2 a &#8216;Dead Game&#8217;<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The name\u00a0of one of <em>Destiny 2<\/em>&#8216;s weekly challenges\u00a0is &#8220;Blood and Honor,&#8221; which has been seen in fantasy media before but\u00a0it&#8217;s also the English translation of\u00a0\u201cBlut und Ehre,\u201d which was a Nazi slogan used by the Hitler Youth. That means that as <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/bungie-announces-major-studio-expansion\/\">Bungie was talking about a studio expansion<\/a>, it also had to\u00a0discuss this phrase in <em>Destiny 2<\/em>. The company said in a statement to Kotaku that it&#8217;s working to remove the phrase and any other &#8220;anti-semitic&#8221; words from the game in an upcoming patch. The developer also said any reference to Nazism was entirely unintentional.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MardinofChatzuk\/status\/1361764628187865092\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The phrase isn&#8217;t one that pops up often, but it did show itself long enough for <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/destiny-2-link-account-steam-transfer\/\"><em>Destiny 2<\/em> users to notice<\/a>\u00a0and point it\u00a0out to Bungie. It&#8217;s possible that if someone didn&#8217;t know about the phrase, they might think it&#8217;s something that would seem to fit in with the <em>Season of the Chosen<\/em> theme. The expansion involves fighting against\u00a0a militant alien race called the Cabal, which is obsessed with things like\u00a0honor and drawing the blood of its enemies.<\/p>\n<p>However, some <em>Destiny 2<\/em> users are aware of the phrase&#8217;s meaning and posted about it on social media. Others pointed out that Blood and Honor isn&#8217;t even something that has been left in the past when it comes to Nazi theology. The phrase\u00a0is also the name of a British organization\u00a0with offshoots in the United States that is considered a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).<\/p>\n<p>Because Blood and Honor is part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/destiny-2-cosmodrome-battleground-seasonal-challenges\/\">weekly challenges this season in <em>Destiny 2<\/em><\/a>, it&#8217;s likely the offending language will get removed soon.
