Among the announcements that came from the February 2021 Nintendo Direct<\/a> was the news that the 1999 action RPG Legend of Mana<\/em><\/strong> would see a remastered released on the Switch this summer. For most, this is strictly a digital release, but Japan is getting another option. The Square Enix store has recently opened orders for a physical edition of the game that comes with plenty of extras.<\/p>\n

The Legend of Mana<\/em> collector’s edition will be available for both the PS4 and Nintendo Switch and comes with a copy of the game, an art book, an official soundtrack, and an adorable Li’l Cactus plush. It’s only available in Japan and is priced at 14,3000 yen. It will launch at the same time as its digital counterpart on June 24.<\/p>\n

Originally released for the PlayStation, Legend of Mana<\/em> is the fourth game in the Mana<\/em> series. Like others in the series, it is an action role-playing <\/a>game starring a silent protagonist<\/a> and has a top-down perspective. What set this entry apart was its exclusion of a fixed world that’s ready to explore. Players use a “Land Make” system to generate the world by placing objects on the map. While the series doesn’t have as many games as Square Enix’s most famous franchise, Final Fantasy<\/em>, Legend of Mana<\/em> ranks highly as one of the best Mana<\/em> games overall<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Mana<\/em> series has made a comeback following the release of 3D remakes of Adventure of Mana<\/em> and Secret of Mana<\/em>, one of the most beloved games in the series. In 2019, Collection of Mana <\/em>was released, packaging together the first three games in the Mana<\/em> franchise. A complete remake of Trials of Mana <\/em>saw huge sales following its launch<\/a> the following year. Square Enix clearly sees promise in revitalizing the franchise for modern audiences, so it will be interesting to see what the company has lined up next.<\/p>\n

Legend of Mana<\/strong><\/em> will release for the Nintendo Switch on June 24, 2021.<\/p>\n
