With all of the uncertainty that the \u00a0COVID-19 pandemic has brought upon the gaming industry, one constant that Nintendo fans have been able to look forward to recently has been the regular release of\u00a0Super Smash Bros. Ultimate<\/i><\/strong> DLC fighters within a few months of each other.\u00a0And just\u00a0the other day, Nintendo fans finally got their first full-fledged Nintendo Direct presentation in about a year-and-a-half, and of course, it came along with some brand new\u00a0Super Smash Bros. Ultimate<\/a><\/em> news.<\/p>\n

Coming off of the surprise that was\u00a0Sephiroth’s big reveal at The Game Awards 2020, fans didn’t quite know what to expect. However, despite an influx\u00a0of theories and rumors, it’s safe to say that few were expecting to see\u00a0Smash<\/em>\u00a0reveal Pyra\/Mythra<\/a>, the Legendary Blade driven by Rex, the protagonist of Xenoblade Chronicles 2<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Although Rex was mysteriously excluded as a playable character and subsequently\u00a0relegated to a bonus Mii Costume early on in\u00a0Ultimate<\/em>‘s lifespan, director Masahiro Sakurai eventually revealed that it was a result of\u00a0how recently\u00a0Xenoblade Chronicles 2<\/em>\u00a0had released during <\/i>the development of the newest\u00a0Smash<\/em> game. Of course, with a constant barrage of speculation\u00a0surrounding\u00a0which characters will be added to\u00a0Smash<\/em> as playable fighters, the reveal of Pyra\/Mythra ended up debunking\u00a0what many fans\u00a0previously thought to be some of the most credible leaks, predictions, and rumors for Super smash Bros. Ultimate<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, it seems that as of right now, there is just one interesting\u00a0leak that has survived Ultimate<\/em>‘s most recent character reveal. This mysterious leak is related to a supposed upcoming\u00a0Super Smash Bros.<\/i>\u00a0concert alluding to\u00a0Pyra\/Mythra, and may just\u00a0point to who\u00a0the game’s\u00a0final 2 DLC fighters may be as well.<\/p>\n

Now known by\u00a0Super Smash Bros. Ultimate<\/em> fans as “concert leak,” a supposed leak posted on\u00a0an online image board has caught the attention of many\u00a0after Pyra\/Mythra’s official reveal. Back on\u00a0January 8\u00a0of this year, an anonymous user made a post explaining that Nintendo has made plans to host a massive live concert featuring a symphony orchestra playing music from Super Smash Bros.<\/em><\/a>\u00a0sometime next year. The user noted that the concert will\u00a0be around 3 hours long and will be held in Japan after the completion of\u00a0<\/i>the game’s Fighters Pass Vol. 2.<\/p>\n

According to the supposed leaker, Nintendo is taking “all precautions needed to make this event happen,” as the event will also be streamed live on YouTube for those around the world unable to attend in-person.\u00a0The leak also notes that a soundtrack disk containing every song from the concert will be distributed afterwards as well. But that’s not all.<\/p>\n

Finally, the anonymous user left fans\u00a0with the supposed track list for the upcoming\u00a0Super Smash Bros. Ultimate<\/em> concert. It appears\u00a0that the concert will include a track dedicated to each character in the Super Smash Bros.<\/em> series in order of their appearance, using the main themes of past Smash<\/em>\u00a0entries\u00a0as transitions between eras. For example, after playing every song from\u00a0Smash 64<\/em>, the\u00a0orchestra would play\u00a0the main theme of\u00a0Melee<\/em>, acting as a transition into\u00a0the next song dedicated to Peach, one of the first new characters introduced in\u00a0Super Smash Bros. Melee<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, the track list seems to be finalized,\u00a0including tracks for all 6 characters in\u00a0Smash Ultimate<\/em>‘s Fighters Pass Vol. 2.\u00a0At the time of the track list’s posting, Sephiroth was the most recently revealed DLC fighter,<\/a> but the list does go beyond “One-Winged Angel” from Final Fantasy 7<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Of course, the inclusion of “Counterattack” from\u00a0Xenoblade Chronicles 2<\/i> immediately after “One-Winged Angel” is what makes this leak credible in the first place, since Pyra\/Mythra had\u00a0not been officially revealed<\/a> at the time, nor were many talking much about the characters at all. But what is really grabbing the attention of fans now is the inclusion of the tracks “N. Sanity Beach” and “Proof of a Hero.”<\/p>\n

To clarify,\u00a0“N. Sanity Beach” is the theme for the home of\u00a0Crash Bandicoot, which serves\u00a0as the starting point for the original\u00a0Crash Bandicoot<\/em> game and has appeared\u00a0in many subsequent titles, also acting as a main theme for the series. Respectively, “Proof of a Hero” comes from\u00a0Monster Hunter<\/em>, also serving as that series’ main theme in many games. Now, fans have their eyes set on Crash Bandicoot and a Monster Hunter<\/a> as\u00a0Super Smash Bros. Ultimate<\/em>‘s final 2 DLC fighters, but just how likely are they to appear in\u00a0Smash<\/em>?<\/p>\n

It’s safe to say that Crash Bandicoot has been nothing if not\u00a0at the front of\u00a0Smash<\/em> fans’ minds as of late. For starters, a “Crash Bandicoot 5-Year Plan” supposedly leaked a few months ago, outlining a roadmap of\u00a0planned Crash Bandicoot<\/em>-related content, including a “Crash Bandicoot<\/em> crossover for\u00a0Super Smash Bros. Ultimate<\/em><\/a>” in 2021.\u00a0While\u00a0this is a rumor at its core, it may be worth mentioning\u00a0that a Crash<\/em>\u00a05-year plan was previously mentioned\u00a0in an issue of Licensing Source Book Europe.<\/p>\n

Additionally, fans have noted the Switch ports of\u00a0Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy<\/em>,\u00a0Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled<\/em>, and\u00a0Crash Bandicoot 4<\/em>, which was only announced<\/a> earlier this month, as proof of a growing relationship between Nintendo and Activision regarding the\u00a0Crash<\/em> IP.\u00a0Because of the recent\u00a0Crash 4<\/em> announcement, many fans expected the character to be revealed for\u00a0Smash<\/em>\u00a0at the most recent Nintendo Direct, but now fans\u00a0hope for Crash<\/em>‘s\u00a0reveal at E3, which would be\u00a0appropriate for such a large-scale event.<\/p>\n

Monster Hunter<\/em> is a franchise that has had quite an interesting history with\u00a0Super Smash Bros.<\/i> in recent years. Monster Hunter Rise<\/em>‘s Switch exclusivity<\/a> serves\u00a0as proof of a strong Nintendo-Capcom relationship, but when thinking of\u00a0Monster Hunter<\/em> in\u00a0Smash<\/em>, many fans may point to the inclusion of Rathalos in\u00a0Ultimate<\/em> as both a Classic Mode boss character and an Assist Trophy. However,\u00a0Monster Hunter<\/em>‘s representation\u00a0preceded\u00a0Smash\u00a0Ultimate<\/em> with the inclusion of the Hunter Set and Rathalos Set Mii Costumes in\u00a0Super Smash Bros. for 3DS<\/em><\/a> and Wii U<\/em> in the game’s 4th wave of Costumes.<\/p>\n

Interestingly enough, those\u00a0Monster Hunter<\/em> Mii Costumes are nowhere to be found in\u00a0Super Smash Bros. Ultimate<\/em>, and since a common fan theory regarding fighters in Smash<\/em> says that characters with Mii Costumes won’t be added as playable fighters, the exclusion of the Costumes has led fans to hold out hope for a Monster Hunter as a DLC fighter. Of course, this goes without saying that the Mii Costumes could make their way into\u00a0Super Smash Bros.\u00a0<\/em>Ultimate<\/em>\u00a0at any second, but only time will tell for now.<\/p>\n
