Persona 5 Strikers’<\/i><\/a> release has been eagerly anticipated by fans since it released in Japan last year. It may also be a bit confusing due to the release of Persona 5 Royal<\/i>. This game is a direct sequel set a few months after the original game wrapped up.<\/p>\n

It in no way mentions anything that happened in Persona 5 Royal<\/i>, and yet it is still canon. The timeline is a bit confusing when considering both of these games, but it’s good to know when starting. Thanks to the quirks of this series, there are a few more things that players should know in the first few hours of the game.<\/p>\n

7 <\/span>More Persona Than Dynasty Warriors<\/h2>\n

Some gamers may get hesitant whenever they see Koei Tecmo involved in a spinoff game for another company. Most of these games tend to be a lot like their Dynasty Warriors<\/i> series aka hack and slash RPGs. Persona 5 Strikers<\/i> is their most different from the bunch in that it doesn\u2019t feel anything like the others. Minus the action combat, it feels like a full-fledged sequel made by the Persona 5<\/i> team, staying true to the heart of the game<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

6 <\/span>Bond Skills 101<\/h2>\n

Joker will no longer go around town to form Bonds with random people. Instead, there is one solid meter that fills up by fighting and doing other random activities. When spending Bond points, always go for the outside skills like opening bigger locks, getting more Bond experience, and getting better deals in Sophia\u2019s shop just to name a few. Increasing stats like HP may be nice, but normal leveling up in the game is a better way to do that, especially if Joker aims to be a powerful Persona user<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

5 <\/span>Registering\/Fusing Personas<\/h2>\n

Whenever one goes back into the Velvet Room, always make sure to register a Persona. This is especially important before fusing Persona together, and it will greatly help in the long run. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

It should also be noted that fusing is mostly the same in this game except that Persona no longer adhere to random parts of the Tarot. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

4 <\/span>Become A Master Of Stealth<\/h2>\n

While there are plenty of areas where there are massive amounts of enemies onscreen, typical of a Dynasty Warriors<\/i><\/a> game, most encounters will initiate like they would in Persona 5<\/i>. That is to say, striking an opponent, or getting caught by one, will start a bout. Use stealth to the team\u2019s advantage in order to make these counters go by quicker. Also, always be on the lookout for environmental aids like cars to blow up, or skateboards to mow down foes. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

No Co-Op Feature<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n

The biggest departure from one of these types of games<\/a> is the absence of co-op. There is no multiplayer of any kind associated with Persona 5 Strikers<\/i>, either offline or online. It\u2019s a shame since that always makes the games better. On the plus side, just like in Persona 5<\/i> <\/i>Joker will be aided by three friends all of which can be swapped on the fly in the middle of battle. Besides the main party, there are only two newcomers to the Phantom Thieves. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Party Rotation Cons<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n

Having a four-person party<\/a> around at all times is great, but there is a downside. Those not in the party do not gain experience. So, if players main a certain four members, the others will get left in the dust, which is bad for future strategies. Certain character abilities will become invaluable at certain points in the game like for bosses. At checkpoints, rotate the party around and keep an eye on levels. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

3 <\/span>Basic Boss Strategies\u00a0 \u00a0<\/h2>\n

On the subject of bosses<\/a>, they are unlike any other encounter in the game. That may seem like an obvious point, but even on the easiest setting, the first boss can decimate even the strongest crew. Always come prepared with plenty of items. More importantly, chances are the boss that is centered around a party member for a dungeon\u2019s story, like between Alice and Anne, will have a weakness to that character. For example, Alice is weak versus fire. It\u2019s also good to charge up the Showtime meters for every party member before encountering the battle. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

2 <\/span>Maybe Avoid The Switch Version<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The Nintendo Switch version runs fine, but compared to the PC and PS4 versions, especially if one is playing it on a PS5, it looks like a PS1 game. That is an over-exaggeration, but the point is that the Switch version is compromised. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The load times are longer, there is stuttering in the frame rates, and it just doesn\u2019t look well on a TV. It does admittedly look better in handheld mode. It\u2019s no Cyberpunk 2077<\/i><\/a> situation, but if one has a choice, between these three, don\u2019t go with Switch.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

1 <\/span>Persona Vacation<\/h2>\n

Based on early advertising, this game may seem like a trip down memory lane<\/a> in the familiar territory of Shibuya. It is for the first five hours until reaching the first Jail, the new name for Palaces. The game then becomes a vacation tour around other famous Japanese locations. It\u2019s almost like Final Fantasy XV\u2019s<\/i><\/a> emphasis on a road trip accompanied by camping and outdoor cooking. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

There Is No Autosave Feature<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n
<\/figure>\n

Like Persona 5<\/i>, this spinoff does not feature autosave. In the real world, the game can be saved anywhere as long as one isn\u2019t in a conversation. In the Metaverse, one can save at the beginning of a Jail or at checkpoints. Sometimes, these checkpoints can be few and far between, so it should come as no shock to read a recommendation to be diligent about saving. On the plus side, if one dies in battle, there is an option to retry. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n
