Last week, it was announced that the\u00a0Xbox Series X\u00a0<\/strong>would be getting a new feature called FPS Boost<\/a> that dramatically enhances the frame rate of specific backward compatible titles. The lineup currently includes a wide array of popular games, including\u00a0Watch Dogs 2, UFC 4, Lucky’s Tale, Far Cry 4,\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Sniper Elite 4,\u00a0<\/em>with more to come in the future.<\/p>\n

However, it seems the FPS Boost feature will\u00a0be exclusively worked into Xbox One titles for now, with Xbox’s Director of Program Management, Jason Ronald, confirming the team is still “evaluating” whether the technology will work with\u00a0Xbox and Xbox 360 releases. “Right now, we’re focused primarily on Xbox One generation titles because we’ve seen the best results there,” Ronald claimed while chatting on the Kinda Funny XCast, revealing that older games won’t be part of the Xbox Series X<\/a>‘s current FPS Boost lineup.<\/p>\n

According to Ronald, Microsoft is currently figuring out whether the technology will even allow players to jump to higher frame rates on\u00a0older releases, so it’s definitely not a feature to be expected anytime\u00a0soon.\u00a0It seems\u00a0it hasn’t been entirely ruled out though, and could potentially\u00a0be on the cards one day if the technology is there to do so. Although some may be disappointed, it definitely seems as though the lineup of Xbox One games imbued with FPS Boost<\/a> will still be significant. Ronald even claims that the company’s goal is to release “new titles every couple of weeks,” with the team allegedly having a long list of games currently going through rigorous testing to ensure they meet the company’s standards.
