For the years that followed, many were unsure what would come from\u00a0the mysterious in-house studio until December 2020 with <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/perfect-dark-the-initiative-game-awards-2020\/\">the announcement of a new <em>Perfect Dark<\/em> game<\/a> at The Game Awards. News on the <em><strong>Perfect Dark<\/strong><\/em> reboot remains stagnant, but\u00a0the studio has been going through a state of reformation in recent weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Design director Drew Murray, who was a part of\u00a0the studio since its inception in November 2018, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/perfect-dark-design-director-leaves-the-initiative-drew-murray\/\">announced his departure from The Initiative<\/a>\u00a0earlier this month. The reasons behind his departure were scarce, citing &#8220;life outside of work needing more attention&#8221; as his motivation for leaving. Prior to his tenure with The Initiative, Murray was a designer for Insomniac Games for over a decade. With the latest announcement involving Murray&#8217;s future in his career, it seems that his story with Insomniac Games is\u00a0not over.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/perfect-dark-might-fable-elder-scrolls-6-problem\/\">Perfect Dark Might Have a Fable, The Elder Scrolls 6 Problem<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Weeks after announcing of his departure from the studio making\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/perfect-dark\/\"><em>Perfect Dark<\/em><\/a>, Murray\u00a0revealed today that he has rejoined Insomniac Games for a second stint.\u00a0Resuming his work within Insomniac Games, Murray&#8217;s tweet identifies his new role within the studio as &#8220;Principal Designer.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PlaidKnuckles\/status\/1363935358149218304\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Murray&#8217;s first departure from Insomniac Games came years before <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/sony-insomniac-games-developer-buy\/\">Sony&#8217;s acquisition of the development studio,<\/a>\u00a0which makes Murray&#8217;s rejoining an interesting case as he left a Microsoft-owned studio to join a Sony-owned studio. The departure from The Initiative was not on bad terms, however, as\u00a0executive vice-president of Microsoft Gaming Phil Spencer bade fond farewells after his initial resignation tweet.<\/p>\n<p>It would seem that Murray wished to rejoin his former colleagues, considering his long history with Insomniac Games. Murray&#8217;s accolades within Insomniac Games include being a designer and the lead designer for several games, including the\u00a0<em>Resistance<\/em> series,\u00a0<em>Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction,<\/em> and directing the Microsoft-exclusive title\u00a0<em>Sunset Overdrive<\/em>. <em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/sony-owns-xbox-one-exclusive-game-sunset-overdrive\/\">Sunset Overdrive<\/a><\/em> would be the last game he worked on with Insomniac Games prior to leaving for the first time.\u00a0Being a veteran of the studio, Murray&#8217;s knowledge of Insomniac Games as its Principal Director\u00a0should\u00a0prove valuable on Insomniac Games&#8217; future projects.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, Insomniac Games is working on\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/ratchet-and-clank-rift-apart-release-date\/\">Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart<\/a>,<\/em>\u00a0the company&#8217;s first exclusive PS5 developed game.
