While the title was funded by publisher UTV Ignition Games, Japanese giant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vg247.com\/2011\/07\/29\/konami-picks-up-el-shaddai-for-europe\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">Konami picked up the publishing rights<\/a> for the title in PAL regions. When it debuted outside of its native Japan, the game was met with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vg247.com\/2011\/08\/17\/el-shaddai-ascension-of-the-metatron-reviews-full-of-praise\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">a strong critical reception<\/a>, too.<\/p>\n<p>As well as El Shaddai, Takeyasu has also worked on games including the original Devil May Cry, Steel Battalion and its 2004 sequel Line of Contract, as well as Okami and Gravity Rush 2.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vg247.com\/2017\/05\/15\/el-shaddai-ascension-of-the-metatron-director-teases-new-reveal-this-month-not-indie-but-major\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">Takeyasu teased<\/a> that he was working on something that was &ldquo;not indie&rdquo;
