This is when Bungie updates the popular looter-shooter\/MMORPG with some fresh content and challenges, which helps keep things interesting throughout each season in the game.\u00a0Fans know to expect some\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/destiny-2\/\">Destiny 2<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>downtime during the Weekly Reset, but this week&#8217;s downtime has been going on longer than usual, with players completely unable to access the game&#8217;s servers.<\/p>\n<p>People trying to log in will be greeted with a message stating that the\u00a0<em>Destiny 2<\/em> servers are not available. With the game usually playable by now any other week, this has led to some confusion in the community. However, Bungie has taken to Twitter to acknowledge the issue and reassure fans that they will get to play\u00a0<em>Destiny 2<\/em> again sooner rather than later. According to Bungie, an unexpected issue has caused the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/destiny-2-server-down-calbrese-error\/\"><em>Destiny 2<\/em> servers<\/a> to be down longer than expected, with Bungie extending the downtime by an hour.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/destiny-2-titan-exotic-made-even-deadly-thanks-new-mods\/\">Destiny 2 Titan Exotic Made Even More Deadly Thanks to New Mods<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Bungie expects the\u00a0<em>Destiny 2<\/em> servers to be restored by 1pm PT, so within the next half an hour or so from the time of this writing.\u00a0<em>Destiny 2<\/em> maintenance will continue until 2pm PT, so some fans may just want to hold off until that point to be sure that everything is in working order before they try to continue their <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/destiny-2-season-of-the-chosen-kinetic-weapons-disappointing\/\">Season of the Chosen adventures<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BungieHelp\/status\/1364298581490868224\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>When the\u00a0<em>Destiny 2<\/em> servers are back online, fans of the game should be able to jump in to a new Battlegrounds activity. That will be accompanied by a new set of Seasonal Challenges, with\u00a0<em>Destiny 2<\/em> players having 10 more tasks to complete. Based on the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/destiny-2-seasonal-challenges-week-2\/\">first two weeks of\u00a0<em>Destiny 2<\/em> Seasonal Challenges<\/a>, fans of the game should have a pretty good idea of what to expect from the Week 3 challenges once they&#8217;re available in the game.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s quite likely that\u00a0<em>Destiny 2<\/em> will continue to encourage players to participate in the new Battlegrounds missions through its Seasonal Challenges. Players will also likely smash Tribute Chests with the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/destiny-2-equip-hammer-of-proving\/\">Hammer of Proving<\/a> for some bonus rewards. Beyond that,\u00a0<em>Destiny 2<\/em> fans can expect some challenges that encourage them to participate in Crucible and <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/destiny-2-change-gambit-year-4\/\">Gambit matches<\/a>, as well as complete Strikes.<\/p>\n<p>While the\u00a0<em>Destiny 2<\/em> server downtime is taking a bit longer than usual this week, fans should be able to jump back into the game sooner rather than later.
