From mass-produced options such as Funko Pops, to ultra-detailed, ultra-pricey replicas, the physical items continue to endure in popularity. Adding another iconic piece of gear to its catalog, collectibles company First 4 Figures has unveiled a first look at its\u00a0<strong><em>Metroid<\/em><\/strong> Samus Aran helmet.<\/p>\n<p>Launching in 1986, the\u00a0<em>Metroid<\/em> franchise was one of the first games to feature a female protagonist. The atmospheric sci-fi series celebrates its 35th anniversary this year along with fellow Nintendo franchise\u00a0<em>The Legend of Zelda<\/em>. Both franchises&#8217; upcoming titles were among those <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/nintendo-direct-missing-games-metroid-zelda-pokemon-smt3-smt5-bayonetta\/\">oddly missing from the Nintendo Direct,<\/a> despite it having been over a year since the last one.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/metroid-prime-4-becoming-nintendos-elden-ring-when\/\">Metroid Prime 4 is Becoming Nintendo&#8217;s Elden Ring<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Revealed in a brief teaser video, the First 4 Figures\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/metroid\/\"><em>Metroid<\/em><\/a> Samus Aran helmet is revealed to be a life-size replica. The helmet appears to be designed after Samus&#8217; helmet as seen in\u00a0<em>Metroid Prime<\/em>, an observation further solidified by the\u00a0<em>Metroid Prime\u00a0<\/em>logo on-screen in the lower right corner. Details surrounding the helmet essentially end there, but the spokesperson says a full reveal including pricing, availability, estimated release dates, and &#8220;much more&#8221; will be coming next week. Unfortunately, it doesn&#8217;t\u00a0seem to be a wearable helmet, appearing to be a solid-cast piece.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"200\" height=\"113\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TJMjnNF0I2I?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>First 4 Figures is no stranger to producing Samus statues, offering a <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/varia-suit-samus-first-4-figures-unboxing-video\/\">Varia suit Samus figure<\/a> from\u00a0<em>Metroid Prime 2: Echoes<\/em> last October. The statue came in two different models: standard and &#8220;exclusive.&#8221; The exclusive model came with extra LED lighting effects throughout Samus&#8217; Power Armor, including the helmet, therefore\u00a0making it highly plausible the life-size helmet replica will follow in its&#8217; footsteps. While the possibility of multiple versions is purely speculation, one thing is all but guaranteed &#8211; a high price tag. The Varia Samus models range from $450 to $490, so players\u00a0should likely expect an equally\u00a0top-dollar price point.<\/p>\n<p>Despite not having a game released in four years,\u00a0the\u00a0<em>Metroid<\/em> protagonist remains a popular character. Recently, many fans believed that <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/fortnite-metroid-samus-skin\/\">Samus was coming to\u00a0<em>Fortnite<\/em><\/a>, given the battle royale title&#8217;s current season has a focus on bounty hunters. While exclusive IP characters such as\u00a0<em>God of War&#8217;<\/em>s Kratos and\u00a0<em>Halo<\/em>&#8216;s Master Chief have entered the fray, there&#8217;s been no actual indication\u00a0that Samus (or any other Nintendo character) will be joining.<\/p>\n<p>While details remain\u00a0under wraps about Samus&#8217; helmet, all is set to be revealed on March 2 during the product&#8217;s launch stream. However,\u00a0the replica&#8217;s likely sky-high pricing\u00a0may make it unaffordable for a majority of gamers. Fortunately, another sci-fi franchise has its iconic helmet available, and for only $150.
