It’s been nearly five years since the release of\u00a0Titanfall 2\u00a0<\/em>and fans have been yearning for a\u00a0Titanfall 3\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>for years. And both EA and developer Respawn are fully aware of it. But while they have acknowledged the demand, Respawn seems entirely focused on its battle-royale game\u00a0Apex Legends<\/a><\/em>, which recently began its eighth season and celebrated its second anniversary. With how popular and successful\u00a0Apex Legends\u00a0<\/em>is, it’s easy to assume that EA is ensuring that Respawn focuses all its efforts on it and not get side-tracked with another project, but that apparently isn’t exactly the case.<\/p>\n

Speaking with IGN, EA’s chief studios officer Laura Miele, who has been with the company for nearly 14 years, mentioned Respawn and the\u00a0Titanfall<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>games, explaining that it’s ultimately up to Respawn whether a new\u00a0Titanfall\u00a0<\/em>game happens or not. It’s Respawn that has full control of the franchise and its future, with Miele adding that she doesn’t believe in instructing developers on what they should be making, suggesting that she wants to provide the teams more freedom in what they create.<\/p>\n

“That team will determine what the future holds for Apex and Titanfall. I don\u2019t believe in directing or telling games teams what to create, it has to come from the player community, and the inspiration and motivation of developers.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

That being said,\u00a0if Respawn does one day decide it wants to make\u00a0Titanfall 3\u00a0<\/em>(assuming development hasn’t started already like some rumors have been claiming<\/a>), EA does still have the final say on any potential projects. Miele says that there is a lot of creative autonomy at EA, but it has certain values and principles that can’t be compromised.<\/p>\n

All in all, it can be reassuring to know that Respawn isn’t being strong-armed and, considering Miele stresses the importance of listening to players and trying to give them what they want (citing examples like\u00a0Skate 4\u00a0<\/em>and the\u00a0Mass Effect Trilogy\u00a0<\/em>remaster), EA would hopefully greenlight\u00a0Titanfall 3\u00a0<\/em>if Respawn ever does want to do it. However, Miele also says that being player-focused doesn’t mean pleasing them 100% of the time. After all, EA and BioWare only recently decided to shut down development on\u00a0<\/a>Anthem<\/em><\/a>, choosing to instead allocate its time and resources to the likes of the new\u00a0Mass Effect\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Dragon Age\u00a0<\/em>games, which naturally upset fans.<\/p>\n

At the very least, Respawn certainly hasn’t forgotten Titanfall.\u00a0<\/em>It’s been long established that\u00a0Apex Legends\u00a0<\/em>is set within the\u00a0Titanfall\u00a0<\/em>universe, though this has led to fans wanting to see more\u00a0Titanfall-<\/em>related content added to the battle royale like certain weapons and even Titans themselves. Unfortunately, Respawn has already shot down there ever being a wall-running feature in Apex Legends<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n
