This week, The Pokemon Company has celebrated by streaming old episodes of the\u00a0anime on Twitch, moments from the\u00a02019\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/pokemon\"><i>Pokemon<\/i><\/a>\u00a0Video Game Championships, and more.<\/p>\n<p>All of these events from this past week have led up to a collaboration with\u00a0Post Malone, which will bring fans a\u00a0virtual concert in celebration of\u00a0the franchise&#8217;s 25th anniversary this Saturday. Just after the Pokemon Presents announcement this morning,\u00a0The Pokemon Company&#8217;s official Twitter account revealed more information on <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-company-hosting-virtual-post-malone-concert-pokemon-day\/\">the upcoming virtual concert,<\/a> as well as a new song by Post Malone, which contains a neat easter egg for long-time\u00a0<em>Pokemon<\/em>\u00a0fans.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-presents-february-26-2021\/\">Pokemon Presentation Confirmed for Tomorrow<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>As part of the P25 Music celebration, Post Malone and\u00a0<em>Pokemon<\/em> have released a cover of &#8220;Only Wanna Be with You&#8221; by Hootie and the Blowfish. A cover of the hit 1995 song seems fitting given the\u00a0<em>Pokemon<\/em> franchise&#8217;s 1990&#8217;s origins, as well as ties to its classic &#8220;I choose you&#8221; line. However, some fans have noticed that the song also contains nods to the theme of Ecruteak City from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-heart-gold-soul-silver-lets-go-remakes-switch\/\"><em>Pokemon Gold<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Silver<\/em>.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TAHK0\/status\/1364852943715921921?s=20\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>At the beginning of Post Malone&#8217;s\u00a0Hootie and the Blowfish cover, fans noticed that the chiptune\u00a0intro to the theme from\u00a0<em>Pokemon Gold<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Silver<\/em>&#8216;s Ecruteak City was mashed-up\u00a0with the song, sounding just as long-time fans may have remembered it from the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/secret-side-quests-pokemon-gold-silver\/\">1999 Game Boy Color games.<\/a> Twitter user TAHK0 expressed that mixing in chiptune\u00a0<i>Pokemon<\/i> themes with nostalgic songs from the 1990&#8217;s seems like the perfect way to capture the origins of the franchise. Hundred of other fans chimed in, expressing their newfound love for Post Malone, as well as how the song has surpassed their expectations for a Post Malone and\u00a0<em>Pokemon<\/em> collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>On its official website, The Pokemon Company noted that Post Malone will be performing the newly released song during the P25 Music Virtual Concert this Saturday. Aside from some type of <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-25th-anniversary-music-program-katy-perry\/\">involvement from Katy Perry,<\/a> not much else has been revealed about the P25 Music celebration. But now, fans have expressed that they hope to see more nods to their favorite\u00a0<em>Pokemon<\/em> games mashed-up with hit songs from the 1990&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, this nod to\u00a0<em>Pokemon Gold<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Silver<\/em> has many\u00a0wondering if it has anything to do with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-25th-anniversary-let-go-johto-gold-silver\/\">rumored\u00a0<em>Let&#8217;s Go, Johto<\/em> games<\/a> possibly being revealed tomorrow during the Pokemon Presents video presentation.
