Although\u00a0Marvel’s Avengers\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>may not be the smash hit so far that many would have expected for a game centered around earth’s mightiest heroes, the plan for future Marvel characters and DLC promises good things to come for this ongoing project. In fact, the brand itself presents a chance for\u00a0Marvel’s Avengers<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>to build upon its foundations and deliver the superhero spectacle it promised to be.<\/p>\n

With the\u00a0recent showcase for the upcoming Hawkeye DLC<\/a> already bringing more exciting content for fans, all while simultaneously adapting the Future Imperfect storyline from the comic books, many wonder what could be next. It is no mystery that the Marvel universe and lore is a very deep, rich history for the developers to search through for inspiration, with many notable standouts throughout the decades that can make for compelling new gameplay opportunities.<\/p>\n

First and foremost, the most obvious addition to the game would be the Marvel storyline that is practically a household name after its success on the silver screen: the Infinity Gauntlet. Being such a huge event in scale and scope, something like this could be best served as a DLC offered to players once more of\u00a0Marvel’s Avengers<\/em>\u00a0character roster are released<\/a>\u00a0and other stories have been experienced to give this arc the true climactic feeling of everything coming together, similar to the MCU interpretation.<\/p>\n

Missions could revolve around jumping between different iconic locations in the Marvel universe<\/a> in an attempt to stop Thanos and his minions from collecting the many Infinity stones. Considering the multiplayer nature of the game, the notion of having to work together against such an iconic threat is sure to make any fan geek out. Top it all off with an epic smackdown against the big purple meanie himself and this would be a DLC package guaranteed to make all Marvel fans assemble.<\/p>\n

With a live action series set for Disney+<\/a> starring Don Cheadle as War Machine, there presents an opportunity to capitalize on the hype for the launch of that show, with a simultaneous drop of new DLC based on this classic Marvel tale. In the comics, Tony Stark’s technology falls into the wrong hands and then he must do whatever he can before something terrible happens, essentially resulting in a non-stop barrage of rock ’em, sock ’em robots in every comic panel.<\/p>\n

Since this would be a heavily Iron Man themed addition to the game, developer Crystal Dynamics could have a lot of fun with adding new armors, each with a specific weapon loadout and set of abilities for players to enjoy. Additionally, while some may find the constant robotic enemies to be repetitive in\u00a0Marvel’s Avengers<\/em><\/a>, in this case it would be thematically fitting to the storyline and give all the more reason to create even more metallic opponents for ol’ shellhead to contend with.<\/p>\n

With a DLC package already confirmed for\u00a0Spider-Man<\/a> in the near future, fans are already spinning a web of theories for what potential storylines based on the wallcrawler could be implemented into the game. Spider-Verse is rumored to be the next Tom Holland movie, so tackling that logic in a crossover style event like Armor Wars above would make sense, however the Maximum Carnage storyline’s pure emphasis on action and mayhem fits better with\u00a0Marvel’s Avengers <\/em>established\u00a0gameplay mechanics.<\/p>\n

Swap out all the common robotic adversaries with a new Symbiotic zombie skin in a ravaged New York environment and its already shaping up to be a great video game version of this 90’s Spidey tale. For extra incentive, since Spider-Man is exclusive to PlayStation owners<\/a>, maybe buying this DLC can have neat crossover bonuses, such as unlockable costumes in the inevitable\u00a0Marvel’s Spider-Man\u00a0<\/em>sequel for PlayStation 5.<\/p>\n

The upcoming Hawkeye DLC for\u00a0<\/a>Marvel’s Avengers<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>already features the Hulk (or rather, the Mad Maestro) as a prominent element to the storyline, but that doesn’t mean that new content revolving around the jade giant should stop there. World War Hulk boiled down to Hulk doing what he does best, being very angry and very destructive with all of his fellow Marvel heroes having to band together to stop him.<\/p>\n

If Crystal Dynamics wanted to dish out different styles of game modes, this Marvel narrative could serve as inspiration for a 3v1 multiplayer experience, with one player controlling a very overpowered Hulk while others pick different Marvel heroes and try to work together to come out victorious. A new addition like this could serve as a fun spin to the formula, and essentially function like the multiplayer style of\u00a0<\/a>Evolve<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>but now with a superhero twist.<\/p>\n
