Devolver Digital\u00a0has announced\u00a0Boomerang X<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/em>a fast-paced first-person shooter developed by DANG! The trailer, released on February 25, introduces players to the game’s high-flying combat, and a taste of some of Devolver<\/a>‘s signature tongue-in-cheek humor. A quick tour of\u00a0Boomerang X<\/em>‘s cel-shaded locales follows, topped off with the all-important (but vague) release date of Spring 2021.<\/p>\n

As such, it’s likely\u00a0Boomerang X<\/em> will be out within a few months- a playable demo is already available on Steam for those wanting to get their hands on the title. Fast-paced,\u00a0technical\u00a0gameplay in shooters has been enjoying a resurgence recently, with titles like Doom Eternal<\/em><\/a> giving the retro playstyle a new coat of paint.<\/p>\n

The gameplay seems to focus heavily on mid-air combat, using the titular boomerang as both a weapon and\u00a0movement option. Players will also be able to call on the ability to slow time to allow for more complex maneuvers. Sprawling, multilayered levels complement the game’s speedy traversal,\u00a0hearkening to\u00a0what\u00a0we’ve seen recently in\u00a0Ghostrunner<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n
