It&#8217;s been nearly seven years since the launch of\u00a0<em>Pokemon Omega Ruby<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Alpha Sapphire<\/em>, so fans have been overdue for\u00a0<em><strong>Pokemon Diamond<\/strong><\/em> and\u00a0<em><strong>Pearl<\/strong><\/em> remakes. Now it&#8217;s been confirmed that fans can finally get their hands on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-diamond-pearl-remake-audio-leak\/\"><em>Pokemon Diamond<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Pearl<\/em> remakes<\/a> in late 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<em>Pokemon Diamond<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Pearl<\/em> remakes are entitled\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/pokemon-diamond\/\">Pokemon Brilliant Diamond<\/a><\/em> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/pokemon-pearl\/\"><em>Pokemon Shining Pearl<\/em><\/a>. They will launch simultaneously worldwide in late 2021, but in a twist, they won&#8217;t be developed directly by Game Freak. Instead the games are being developed by ILCA, who developed the Pokemon Home app.\u00a0<em>Pokemon Brilliant Diamond<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Shining Pearl<\/em> are being directed by Yuichi Ueda of ILCA and Junichi Masuda of Game Freak.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/nintendo-switch-games-2021-zelda-metroid-fire-emblem-pokemon-diamond-pearl-remakes-splatoon\/\">Nintendo Leaker Hints at Big Switch Games for 2021<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Like the original games,\u00a0<em>Pokemon Brilliant Diamond<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Shining Pearl<\/em> are set in the Sinnoh region. The games are looking to replicate the gameplay experience of the original, retaining its sense of scale and the starter Pokemon. That means players will once again get to choose between Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup. And it also means that, contrary to some recent rumors,\u00a0the\u00a0<em>Pokemon Diamond\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>Pearl\u00a0<\/em>remakes\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/established-pokemon-leaker-denies-diamond-pearl-lets-go-remake-rumors\/\">do not play like the\u00a0<em>Let&#8217;s Go<\/em> spin-off series<\/a>. On the contrary, they will play like traditional, core\u00a0<em>Pokemon<\/em> games.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"200\" height=\"113\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BjCwUk06ZSk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>While that controversy may have been avoided, there&#8217;s been a mixed reaction to the\u00a0<em>Pokemon Brilliant Diamond<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Shining Pearl<\/em> art style so far. The game features chibi-looking characters in the overworld, which seems to have been done to retain the general look of the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-diamond-and-pearl-remakes-leaks-twitter\/\">Nintendo DS versions<\/a>. However, the announcement of\u00a0<em>Pokemon Legends: Arceus<\/em> may go a long way in keeping fans from getting too riled up about the\u00a0<em>Diamond\u00a0<\/em>and<em> Pearl<\/em> remakes.<\/p>\n<p>Announced alongside the\u00a0<em>Pokemon Diamond<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Pearl<\/em> remakes was\u00a0<em>Pokemon Legends: Arceus<\/em>, which looks like a large scale, open world\u00a0<em>Pokemon\u00a0<\/em>RPG that fans have been asking to play for years. The game will launch in early 2022 and makes a perfect companion piece to\u00a0<em>Diamond<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Pearl<\/em> because it&#8217;s a prequel to those games, set many years in the past and detailing how the Sinnoh region&#8217;s first <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-halloween-creepy\/\">Pokedex<\/a> was created.<\/p>\n<p>More information on\u00a0<em>Pokemon Brilliant Diamond<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Shining Pearl<\/em>, along with\u00a0<em>Pokemon Legends: Arceus<\/em>, should come to light in the months ahead.
