Renowned professional wrestler Paul Donald Wight II, better known by his stage name The Big Show, has signed a new deal with WWE competitor All Elite Wrestling<\/em>.\u00a0Wight will join AEW as both a competitive wrestler and as a commentator for the company’s new show AEW Dark: Elevation<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, which\u00a0will focus on highlighting established and rising stars on its roster.<\/p>\n

AEW is a professional wrestling company founded in 2019 by Jacksonville Jaguars co-owner Tony Khan, with financial backing from billionaire Shahid Khan.\u00a0Although a relatively\u00a0new company,\u00a0AEW has established itself as one of the more serious competitors to WWE<\/a>. The company headlines many\u00a0former WWE wrestlers,\u00a0including Cody and Brandi Rhodes, Kenny Omega, the Young Bucks, Chris Jericho, Sting, Hangman Page, and Jon Moxley.<\/p>\n

Using his years of professional wrestling experience, Wight\u00a0will act as a mentor for\u00a0young talent at AEW, in addition to educating viewers about\u00a0the industry as a commentator. In a statement, Wight said of the transition, \u201cAEW Dark is an incredible platform to hone the skills of up-and-coming wrestlers, but I also love that established AEW talent can build out their personalities and showcase themselves in new ways on Dark.” Wight added that it is not an exaggeration\u00a0to say that AEW is “boundless.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wight\u2019s career as a professional wrestler took off in the mid-\u201990s when he\u00a0signed with World Championship Wrestling <\/em>(WCW). Due to his large frame, he was originally known in\u00a0the ring as\u00a0The Giant\u00a0<\/em>and would\u00a0even be\u00a0introduced as “the son of Andr\u00e9 the Giant.” In 1999, Wight left WCW and signed with the World Wrestling Federation <\/em>(WWF)<\/a>, which would go on to become the WWE. He is a seven-time world champion, having held the WCW World Heavyweight Championship twice, the WWF\/WWE Championship twice, WWE’s World Heavyweight Championship twice, and the ECW World Heavyweight Championship once,\u00a0making him the only wrestler to have won all four titles.<\/p>\n

Like many other famous wrestlers, such as Dwayne Johnson\/The Rock<\/a> and Stone Cold Steve Austin, Wight has also made a name for himself in\u00a0Hollywood. He\u2019s made memorable appearances\u00a0in several big\u00a0films,\u00a0such as the Arnold Schwarzenegger Christmas farce\u00a0Jingle All the Way,\u00a0<\/em>and on the small screen with TV shows like USA Network\u2019s\u00a0Burn Notice<\/em>\u00a0and Star Trek: Enterprise<\/em>.<\/em><\/p>\n

More\u00a0recently, Wight has even starred in his very own sitcom<\/a> titled\u00a0The Big Show Show. <\/em>The series, which focused on a fictional version of\u00a0Big Show as he tries to raise his three daughters with his wife, was canceled after one season on Netflix.<\/p>\n

AEW Dark: Elevation<\/strong><\/em> is set to debut March 15th on AEW\u2019s YouTube channel.<\/p>\n
