Beginning with the announcement that <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/sonic-the-hedgehog-voice-actor-roger-craig-smith\/\">Roger Craig Smith\u00a0would depart\u00a0from\u00a0his role\u00a0as\u00a0Sonic<\/a>, several voice actors had come forward relating to their future within Sega&#8217;s flagship series.<\/p>\n<p>Following the announcement of the <em>Sonic<\/em> Netflix-exclusive series and Roger Craig Smith stepping down from his role, curious fans wished to know the future of the other voice actors, some of whom voiced their respective roles for as long as Smith&#8217;s role.\u00a0Colleen O&#8217;Shaughnessey was one of several voice actors to chime in on the status of their role within the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/sonic-the-hedgehog\/\"><em>Sonic the Hedgehog<\/em><\/a> series, however, a misconception relating to her future involving Tails enabled O&#8217;Shaughnessey to clear up prior confusion.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/sonic-the-hedgehog-dr-eggman-voice-actor-mike-pollock\/\"><strong>Sonic the Hedgehog Games Keeping Dr. Eggman Voice Actor<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Several days after Smith&#8217;s announcement, a\u00a0<em>Sonic<\/em> fan on Twitter asked O&#8217;Shaughnessey if she would be returning to voice Tails for the Netflix series. Strictly answering the question and nothing more, she had confirmed that she would not reprise her role as Tails for\u00a0<em>Sonic Prime<\/em>, leading some fans to believe that she would also step down from her <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/sonic-the-hedgehog-recurring-tails-voice-actor-wont-reprise-role-sonic-prime\/\">role as the twin-tailed fox<\/a>. Earlier today, O&#8217;Shaughnessey tweeted a photo of a Tails Funko that she recently obtained, replying to a fan that she and Tails &#8220;weren&#8217;t finished&#8221; when the fan expressed sadness over the possibility of the voice actor leaving.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/VOColleen\/status\/1365366520394641411\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Colleen O&#8217;Shaughnessey is a veteran voice actor who is also best known for roles including Sora Takenouchi from the\u00a0<em>Digimon Adventure<\/em> series, Jazz Fenton from\u00a0<em>Danny Phantom<\/em>, and Ino Yamanaka from\u00a0the\u00a0<em>Naruto<\/em> series. Prior to playing the role as Tails, starting with\u00a0<em>Sonic Boom,<\/em> O&#8217;Shaughnessey voiced fellow\u00a0<em>Sonic the Hedgehog<\/em> character Charmy Bee for over a decade. As of this writing, she is still the current voice of Charmy alongside Tails. O&#8217;Shaughnessey reprised her role as Tails in the 2020 feature film\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/sonic-the-hedgehog-2-movie-creator-yuji-naka\/\">Sonic the Hedgehog<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>being the only original <em>Sonic<\/em> character who wasn&#8217;t recast for the movie.<\/p>\n<p>With her future as the role of Tails cleared up, she joins fellow voice actor Mike Pollock as the two voice actors\u00a0confirmed to keep their roles\u00a0following the aftermath of the\u00a0<em>Sonic the Hedgehog<\/em> cast.
