For anyone looking for something\u00a0new to shoot, here&#8217;s a look at some of the most underrated FPS games of last year.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">5 <\/span>Too Little: Prodeus<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static2.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/prodeus-gameplay-switch.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>For anyone following the recent craze of boomer shooters following the popularity of New Blood&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Dusk\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>Amid Evil<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Prodeus<\/em>\u00a0probably isn&#8217;t a surprising addition to the list. Following in the spiritual footsteps of &#8217;90s classics like\u00a0<em>Doom<\/em><em>, Hexen,<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Blood<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Prodeus<\/em> is a fast-paced gory shoot-em-up taking the quality of triple-A gameplay and adding a neo-retro aesthetic.<\/p>\n<p>Not only is it a beautifully faithful\u00a0<em>Doom-<\/em>like, but its development team is full of star creatives and industry veterans, making it an all-around fantastic experience unlike most other shooters out today. For fans of classic\u00a0<em>Doom,<\/em> it&#8217;s a must-buy, and for new audiences brought in with the 2016 reboot and last year&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Doom Eternal<\/em>, the classic entries are some of the best-aged\u00a0games of all time. They are well worth a shot for their price point and wide availability.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">3 <\/span>Too Little: Post Void<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static1.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Post-Void-Gameplay.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p><em>Post Void<\/em> is radical in the same way that\u00a0<em>Doom\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>Wolfenstein<\/em> were back in the &#8217;90s. This game is exactly what suburban moms were worried about, with an added visual touch of\u00a0<em>Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Post Void<\/em> is colorful, hypnotic, fast-paced, and sick to its core. The game has an epilepsy warning due to the intensity of its visual style and breakneck speed.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">2 <\/span>Too Little: Serious Sam 4<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static0.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/serious-sam-4-1.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>Much like the\u00a0<em>Doom<\/em> games and their recent reboots,\u00a0<em>Serious Sam<\/em> has had a <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/fps-games-console-ports-wishlist\/\">pretty long run<\/a> relative to other shooters, going on 20 years now with the fourth installation. Unlike its gritty modern compatriots,\u00a0<em>Sam<\/em> takes a more classic approach with its action, supplementing high-octane gunfights with quippy one-liners and bright, vivid visuals.<\/p>\n<p>A lot of players unfamiliar with the franchise discounted\u00a0<em>Serious Sam\u00a0<\/em><em>4\u00a0<\/em>as just a dumb boomer shooter undeserving of their attention, but this is a much more refreshing game than it lets on. For the price point, any FPS fans should check this one out.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">1 <\/span>Too Little (In Some Ways): Half-Life: Alyx<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static2.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/half-life-alyx-box-art.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p><em>Half-Life: Alyx<\/em>\u00a0is an interesting piece of gaming history, as it&#8217;s objectively one of the best virtual reality games of all time, pushing the medium forward with its technical innovations. On the other hand, it&#8217;s not the most accessible game out there, and most players had to experience it through YouTube instead of their own hardware.<\/p>\n<p><em>Alyx<\/em>\u00a0pushes the envelope of what\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/best-vr-simulation-games-metacritic\/\">VR games can accomplish<\/a>, giving players more realistic mechanics and immersion than ever available before. On top of that, the physics\u00a0work\u00a0amazingly well, with realistic liquid in breakable bottles, markers that can draw in real-time on various surfaces, and hand tracking that makes juggling, aiming, and throwing much more tactile experiences.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\">RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/best-vr-games-2020\/\">The 10 Best VR Games of 2020<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Looking closer,\u00a0<em>Half-Life: Alyx<\/em>\u00a0was one of the most talked-about games from a lot of people who never\u00a0even got to play it. With its technical advances, obviously, not everyone would be able to get their hands on hardware strong enough to handle the game even at its worst.<\/p>\n<p>Valve might argue that not enough people played\u00a0its\u00a0game,\u00a0but\u00a0<em>Half-Life Alyx\u00a0<\/em>was not\u00a0really\u00a0made\u00a0available to\u00a0those\u00a0who couldn&#8217;t afford adequate setups.
