This week’s list of Steam top-selling games, as measured by revenue and not unit-sales, has\u00a0shown that Valheim<\/em><\/strong>‘s ongoing success is more than a viral phenomena. Valheim<\/em><\/a>\u00a0has overcoming its competition for four weeks straight, meaning\u00a0Valheim<\/em>\u00a0has been in the top position of Steam’s weekly top-sellers for the entirety of February. It doesn’t look like its popularity will be tapering off anytime soon.<\/p>\n

Technically, Valheim<\/em> did have a bit of a dip this past week. The game reached its highest concurrent player count on February 21 and has spent the week since dropping and climbing back.\u00a0One week later and Valheim<\/em> didn’t quite reach the numbers of this past Sunday, but it came close. This could have just been a hitch, or it could mean that Valheim<\/em>‘s month-long growth<\/a> has reached a plateau. That’s nothing to be sad about, however, as Valheim<\/em> already has over\u00a0four million players.<\/p>\n

This week’s Steam chart did see a shake-up below Valheim<\/em>‘s sturdy lead. The second and third top-selling products swapped places, with Tale of Immortal<\/em> falling to third for the first time in\u00a0five weeks and the Valve Index VR Kit<\/a> climbing to second. The last time the Valve Index VR Kit was so high was mid-January. The continued success of Tale of Immortal<\/em> is perhaps as deserving of praise as Valheim<\/em>‘s success, or at least it’s newsworthy because it remains solely available in Simplified Chinese.<\/p>\n

The remaining top 10 is surprising compared to last week. Number four and five were picked up by Persona 5 Strikers<\/em>, likely representing the game’s standard and deluxe editions. Stardew Valley<\/em> came in\u00a0sixth as it celebrates its fifth anniversary. Pre-purchases of People Can Fly’s Outriders<\/em><\/a> put it in seventh, as the game’s demo has built a lot of hype. Eighth, ninth, and tenth then belong to Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition<\/em>, Baldur’s Gate 3<\/em>, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive – Operation Broken Fang<\/em> respectively.<\/p>\n

It seems worth wondering\u00a0whether the combined sales of Persona 5 Strikers<\/em><\/a>‘ standard and deluxe editions would have pushed it up to the top of this week’s list. That wouldn’t minimize what Valheim<\/em>\u00a0has accomplished, but it would show just how excited fans have been for more Persona<\/em>.<\/p>\n

There’s likely to be more shaken up next week. Valheim<\/em> seems likely to retain the top spot, but\u00a0its\u00a0fluctuation\u00a0could continue. One game to watch is Devolver Digital’s Loop Hero<\/em><\/a>, which could have a solid launch. Otherwise, there’s always the chance of a surprise.<\/p>\n
