As the pandemic began and closures happened across the world, many game companies stepped forward to offer ways for gamers to stay at home safely and play gamers. For Sony, this was the Play at Home initiative<\/a>, a release of free games that really required a decent time sink. Now, as it continues, Sony has announced that the Play at Home initiative is back and will remain so for four months this time around. Not only will there be additional access to free games, but there will be additional entertainment products as well.<\/p>\n

Of course, that’s not all either. PS Plus<\/strong> free games for March 2021 will hit soon, and practically since the launch of the PS5, PS Plus<\/a> has doubled down on everything that makes it great. Fans aren’t just getting two games with their subscription, as some months they’re getting three, but March 2021 itself technically offers 5 games.<\/p>\n

PS5s are still notoriously hard to get, so for those still trying to get hands on those elusive consoles, Sony has been offering at least one game for two months. That means those who get a PS5 in that time span can still get one of the PS5 launch games, as the first offering was Bugsnax<\/em>, the current offering is Destruction Allstars<\/em>, and the next is Oddworld: Soulstorm<\/em><\/a>. In other words, while these may not be everyone’s cup of tea, it’s a free PS5 game to go alongside the new console. This is compounded every month with a standard offering of games; for March, this includes a PS4 version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake,<\/em> a PS5 version of Maquette,<\/em> a PS4 version of Farpoint VR<\/em>, and a PS4 version of Remnant: From the Ashes<\/em>.<\/p>\n

There’s a lot to dissect here; after all, Final Fantasy 7 Remake<\/em> comes with the caveat that it can’t be upgraded to the PS5<\/a> version. This is required for the upcoming Yuffie DLC for FF7 Remake Intergrade<\/em>, which itself releases this summer. But they run the gamut with a hugely popular game, a puzzle game in Maquette,<\/em> a VR first-person shooter in Farpoint,<\/em> and a Souls-esque shooter game in Remnant.<\/em> For many gamers, this is a buffet in and of itself; for every type of gamer, there is really something being offered here; and for newcomers to PS5, Destruction AllStars<\/em> is a dessert that may or may not satisfy their taste, but it’s still dessert.<\/p>\n

All of that is complimented by the return of the Play at Home Initiative that will stretch the summer months, running at least through June. Free games, other mediums of entertainment, and more are just beginning with Ratchet and Clank. The best part is that neither of these seem to be cannibalizing each other; while many may have already played Ratchet and Clank, it’s a solid offering for those who haven’t or for those who no longer have it but want to play it before Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart<\/em> releases<\/a>. It really seems safe to say that Sony is a gracious host when it comes to providing content for its subscribers and fans.<\/p>\n

In short, with both of these programs combined, players can get a total of 6 free games in March – Ratchet and Clank,<\/em> the four PS Plus games<\/a> for this month, and Destruction AllStars<\/em>. As astounding as this is, it doesn’t seem like it’ll slow down next month, as PS Plus games will be made available as always, another game is likely to follow Ratchet and Clank<\/em>, and Oddworld Soulstorm<\/em> is set to replace PS Plus’ Destruction AllStars<\/em> as the PS5 launch game giveaway. Indeed, it’s a good time to be a PlayStation fan.<\/p>\n

PS Plus<\/strong> subscribers get a handful of free games every month.<\/p>\n
