There ain’t no rest for the wicked, especially for the ever-growing band of Vault Hunters in Eli Roth’s Borderlands. Today, Lionsgate has announced the casting of Tiny Tina to be portrayed by young actress Ariana Greenblatt. Ariana’s casting comes as the latest addition to the\u00a0Borderlands<\/a>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>movie as it continues its pre-production.<\/p>\n

The news comes from Collider<\/em>, which confirmed the story with Lionsgate. Following a casting search that spanned the globe, Ariana Greenblatt will be cast as the fan-favorite explosives expert, Tiny Tina. Tiny Tina\u00a0first appeared in 2012’s\u00a0Borderlands 2<\/em>, who then appeared in the subsequent installments\u00a0Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel<\/em> and\u00a0Borderlands 3.<\/em> In the games, Tiny Tina serves as an ally to the vault hunters, assisting their quest for keys to the Vault, while also plotting her revenge. Having lost her parents to genetic experiments at the hands of Handsome Jack, she breaks free from her captors and pledges her revenge against those involved in her parent’s death.<\/p>\n

Ariana Greenblatt made a big debut in 2018’s\u00a0Avengers: Infinity War<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>as young Gamora. Her\u00a0appearance in one of the biggest movies in recent history kicked off her movie career, appearing in one film after the other. Ariana just wrapped up filming with the sci-fi thriller, 65<\/em>, co-starring Adam Driver, and will soon appear in the musical\u00a0In The Heights<\/em> from Lin-Manuel Miranda. When approached for a statement, director Eli Roth<\/a> responded with positivity, regarding Ariana’s casting in\u00a0Borderlands<\/em><\/a>, calling her spectacular new talent that blew him and everyone else away in her audition.\u00a0Roth is confident “she is going to blow up onscreen like one of Tina’s grenades.”<\/p>\n
