Bend Studio’s Days Gone<\/em><\/strong> is finally coming to PC, following in the footsteps of Guerilla Games’ Horizon: Zero Dawn <\/em>and Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding<\/em>. The porting process is being done by Bend Studio itself and is set to release in Spring 2021.<\/p>\n

Much of the reason behind the decision to bring PlayStation exclusives to the PC<\/a> platform is driven by the success of its previous ports of exclusive titles. While such a port may be great for the developer and the community at large, it could have a greater impact on Days Gone 2<\/em>, if that is to happen.<\/p>\n

2019’s notable PlayStation exclusives,\u00a0Death Stranding<\/em> and\u00a0Days Gone<\/a>,<\/em> both suffered from mixed receptions. While Death Stranding<\/em> had a myriad of reasons behind such reception, much of the negative reception of Days Gone<\/em> was aimed at a plethora of bugs and glitches. Since the title was a new IP from a relatively less-popular studio, fans were not willing to look past such bugs, which ranged from minor visual discrepancies to quest-breaking ones.<\/p>\n

However, Bend Studio didn’t just give up on the game and decided to honor the fans who stuck with it. Over the course of 12 months, the\u00a0developer was able to turn the tides around by fixing most of the issues that plagued the launch version and adding new pieces of content regularly completely free of any additional cost. A little less than 2 years after launch, Days Gone<\/em> has a lot to show<\/a> for its progress and it has convinced many more players to give the game another chance. That being said, a PC port could very well be the most ambitious move to invite even more gamers to jump into its beautifully rendered post-apocalyptic Oregon.<\/p>\n

Days Gone<\/em> may have\u00a0had inspiring tale of redemption, but it hasn’t amassed as big a fandom as Sony’s other titles. It may sound ironic given that Days Gone<\/em> consistently topped many sales charts during its release, which can be mostly be attributed to its choice of a release date. Most highly anticipated AAA games<\/a> tend to release in the latter half of the year, while\u00a0Days Gone<\/em> chose to release in April of 2019. The month of April is relatively sparse for such releases, which could’ve prompted many gamers to try out the game at launch and rake in these sales.<\/p>\n

That being said, the fan community behind Days Gone<\/em> is still very small in number with currently around 45k members in the game’s official subreddit as opposed to something like Death Stranding<\/em> which has over 150k members. Since a PC port is a chance to capture an untapped gaming market, it could be monumental in building up hype for its sequel, Days Gone 2<\/a><\/em> if it is to happen sometime soon.<\/p>\n

On the topic of Days Gone 2<\/em>, there is a high likelihood of the sequel being exclusive to the PlayStation platform as opposed to a multi-platform launch release. Guerilla Games has also played a similar move in the past with Horizon: Zero Dawn<\/em>‘s port on PC<\/a> and following it up with\u00a0Horizon: Forbidden West<\/em>‘s PS5 exclusivity. However, many fan-speculations suggest that Bend Studio could very well be banking on the port’s success to create a sequel. Even if that doesn’t turn out to be the case, a PC port is a chance for locked-out players to explore this underappreciated open-world title and get up to speed for what awaits in the future.<\/p>\n

Days Gone<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0is available now for PlayStation 4 with a PC version slated to release in Spring 2021.<\/p>\n
